About Alltrna

Alltrna, a Flagship-founded company, has mapped tRNA biology to systematically design tRNA medicines and encode a completely new, unifying approach to treating both rare and common human diseases driven by shared genetic mutations. Our mission is to unlock tRNA biology and pioneer tRNA therapeutics to regulate the protein universe and resolve disease. Alltrna's platform combines internal expertise and proprietary machine learning tools to unlock the entire tRNA biology space. We have an unprecedented opportunity to advance a single tRNA medicine to restore disrupted protein production, regardless of target, for thousands of diseases with the same underlying genetic mutation. Alltrna was founded in 2018 by Flagship Pioneering. For more info, visit www.alltrna.com.

Flagship Pioneering (FSP) conceives, creates, resources, and develops first-in-category bioplatform companies to transform human health and sustainability. Since its launch in 2000, the firm has, through its Flagship Labs unit, applied its unique hypothesis-driven innovation process to originate and foster more than 100 scientific ventures, resulting in more than $200 billion in aggregate value. To date, Flagship has deployed over $2.5 billion in capital toward the founding and growth of its pioneering companies alongside more than $19 billion of follow-on investments from other institutions. The current Flagship ecosystem comprises 42 transformative companies, including Denali Therapeutics (Nasdaq: DNLI), Foghorn Therapeutics (Nasdaq: FHTX), Indigo Ag,, Moderna (Nasdaq: MRNA), Omega Therapeutics (Nasdaq: OMGA), , Sana Biotechnology (Nasdaq: SANA), and Seres Therapeutics (Nasdaq: MCRB).

About The Role

This is a unique opportunity to be a half lab/ half digital member of the Research Informatics team. You will be the bridge between bench researchers and Alltrna's data systems and will help decide how the data generated by our wet bench teams are represented digitally. In addition, you will build pipelines and perform data migrations to ensure that these repositories are evolving with the new science that Alltrna explores.

On the lab side, you will help us complete in vivo studies by facilitating the flow of physical samples among scientific teams. These studies are critical to Alltrna's path to clinic, and in this role, you will ensure all parties have the information and materials necessary to perform with speed and integrity. These responsibilities include in vivo sample receipt, shipping, tracking, internal/external inventory management, and, relatedly, the accurate record-keeping through our LIMS. In this capacity, you will interact with bench scientists, external vendors and CROs, and our lab operations group.

This role is ideal for someone with experience at the bench who is looking to lean into to their data skills. Alternatively, if you are considered a "superuser" of scientific software by your colleagues, this is your chance to turn that into a career.

Digital Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and customize the registry of research samples (either through point-and-click features or APIs) to support new data types and changes to the data model
  • Create the data model for how scientific samples (among others) will be represented digitally and integrated with their resulting data
  • Configure, administer, and train users on our ELN and LIMS (Benchling). Support users in executing data queries, output and formatting, running data and project dashboards
  • Additional: code data pipelines to reduce the need for manual data entry. Perform programmatic data migrations when changes to the data model take place

Lab Responsibilities:
  • Own the logistics for shipping samples among Alltrna teams, external vendors, and offsite storage
    • Receive, reconcile and store/forward the incoming biological and test article samples
    • Maintain both physical and electronic records for sample storage, location and disposition
  • Be a librarian of research samples among teams within Alltrna
    • Maintain both physical and electronic records for sample storage, location and disposition
    • Champion barcoding and freezer management best practice
    • Train scientists on our ontology of research drug substance and product
    • Additional: Manage data transfer agreements with external parties

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in the life sciences, training in computer science is a plus
  • Experience with Benchling or a similar ELN/LIMS; familiarity with data modelling concepts
  • 5+ years experience working in a wet lab, specifically working with molecular biology and/or oligonucleotide chemistry
  • Demonstrated experience with biological sample handling including biological tissues
  • 6+ months experience with Python and SQL
  • Strong communication and people skills: demonstrated ability to listen to and collect user input, identify tools and capability gaps, and train users in processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a methodical and organized fashion and to document your work

What We'll Offer You
  • Comprehensive, competitive healthcare and dental coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield, vision coverage through VSP, family leave, paid time off, 401k retirement plan, disability and life insurance, and fully covered parking/commuter benefits.
  • A dynamic early-stage work environment and highly interdisciplinary, talented, and collaborative team.
  • Participation in an unprecedented opportunity to advance a single tRNA medicine to restore disrupted protein production, regardless of target, for thousands of diseases with the same underlying genetic mutation.
  • Professional growth opportunities through mentoring, training, immersion in cross-functional projects, and opportunities to learn and try new things.
  • Be part of the team that writes the playbook for developing tRNA molecules and you will be critical not only in ensuring that we can understand how our formulations perform in living systems but also in defining how we manufacture for our clinical programs.
