Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Engineer - Tag Governance & Monitoring to join our team in a hybrid capacity. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining systems for 3rd party tagging monitoring and issue resolution. As part of this role, you will be working with key stakeholders and various teams to ensure the accuracy, effectiveness, and compliance of data collection systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in tag management platforms, data governance tools, and a deep understanding of web analytics. This position is essential for ensuring seamless monitoring of 3rd party tagging systems across digital platforms while promoting best practices in data collection, privacy compliance, and governance.

Responsibilities:

• Tag Governance: Develop, document, and maintain standards and processes for 3rd party tagging monitoring, ensuring compliance and issue resolution.
• Collaboration & Implementation: Work with key stakeholders to design and implement analytics and 3rd party tags monitoring solutions from inception to production.
• Tag Monitoring & Operation: Operate and maintain tag monitoring solutions, collaborating with MarTech and partner teams to ensure effective monitoring and management of tags.
• Data Review & Governance: Participate in the tag governance process to ensure the accuracy of collected and shared data, including querying and reviewing clickstream data.
• Innovation & Mentorship: Innovate on best practices for tag implementation, monitoring, and governance. Mentor junior team members in enhancing tag management processes.
• Business Continuity: Support live systems to ensure uninterrupted business operations and data accuracy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of experience in computer science, information technology, or related field.
• In lieu of a degree, 8+ years of relevant experience in computer science, information technology, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in data collection quality assurance within Marketing Tag Management, Marketing Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with data layer design, data taxonomy, data dictionary, and data catalog systems.
• 4+ years of experience working with privacy compliance monitoring platforms and managing opt-out choices, pixel tags, conversion tags, remarketing tags, and browser cookies.
• Expertise in best practices for 3rd party tagging and monitoring software.
• Strong knowledge of tag management platforms such as Adobe Launch, Google Tag Manager (GTM), etc.
• Experience with data governance tools and best practices implementation.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, and modern JavaScript libraries (e.g., jQuery, React).
• Strong experience in CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins) and version control with Git/GitHub.

Desired Skills:

• 3+ years of experience with data integration for downstream data lake platforms.
• 3+ years of experience with system enhancements related to data privacy laws (CCPA, CPRA, GDPR).
• Experience in Agile engineering or development environments.
• Knowledge of analytics data collection integrations for single-page applications (SPA).
• Strong implementation experience with Adobe/Google Analytics, especially in complex ecosystems (multiple sites/apps, hundreds of custom tags, etc.).
• Proven ability to design, implement, and integrate analytics solutions across digital platforms (web, responsive mobile, and native mobile apps).

Additional Information:

• This position is hybrid with a requirement of 2 days in the office per week in Chicago, IL.
• The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
