The Energy Authority's Data Dynamics team drives transformative analytics solutions for network asset management, customer analytics, demand forecasting, and optimized predictive maintenance. In our inclusive and cooperative environment, the Data Dynamics team leverages deep expertise in data architecture, machine learning, artificial intelligence, mathematics, software engineering, and computer science. Our primary goal is to Identify Value for Our Clients, focusing on the distribution grid network.

About the Job:
As a Senior Data Engineer on the Data Dynamics team, you'll be pivotal in assembling and integrating large, complex data sets into standardized platforms using ETL tools based on Microsoft Azure and SQL. Reporting to the Senior Data Architect, you'll manage ETL data pipelines and work closely with utility clients to ensure data acquisition processes meet both immediate and future analytics needs.

You'll also collaborate with Data Scientists and Research Scientists to optimize data inputs for statistical and machine learning models and present findings to internal teams and external clients using tools like Power BI. Beyond technical contributions, you'll play a role in shaping the strategic direction of the team.

Remote work is supported at The Energy Authority, with the expectation of availability for internal and client meetings both virtually and in person.

What You'll Do:
  • Develop and Maintain Data Pipelines:
    • Build data pipelines using SQL, Python, and R.
    • Set up and monitor data acquisition processes for clients.
    • Test, monitor, and address issues with data pipelines.
  • Collaborate Across Teams:
    • Work with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Data Architects to create data structures for Machine Learning models.
    • Understand and support data requirements for statistical and machine learning models.
  • Create Insightful Visualizations:
    • Develop visualizations using tools like Power BI to provide actionable insights to team members and clients.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or 5-7 years of relevant experience.
    • Proficient in SQL development, building ETL pipelines, and creating data structures.
    • Expertise in scripting languages such as R, Python, and Scala.
    • Experience with Power BI or equivalent data visualization tools.
    • Familiarity with Big Data Spark development and Databricks.
    • Background in Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Key Skills:
    • Ability to work on team projects, meet deliverable milestones independently, and adapt quickly to new technologies.
    • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients and internal staff, understand and document requirements, and present project outcomes.
