JOB SUMMARY

The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting solutions used to collect, transform, store, and analyze data from a variety of company applications. They analyze and organize raw data, build data systems and pipelines, review and analyze data infrastructure, plan, and implement solutions to store and manage data. On occasion, they will be asked to create reports, dashboards, and other analytics solutions. They will work closely with the lines of business and external partners, to ensure successful development and delivery of BI and data analytics solutions. This is a hands-on development and support position with ownership responsibility for data architecture and engineering for BI and analytics purposes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems.

Ensure data quality and integrity across various data sources.

Optimize and improve existing data workflows for better performance and reliability.

Develop and oversee adherence to proper technical procedures and methodologies.

Collaborate with business and operations teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

Contribute to our suite of reports and data products, while collaborating with business analysts, business process owners, and other team members.

Engage in technical and user testing, training, deployment, support, and ongoing improvements.

COMPETENCIES

Data modeling, relational databases, data warehousing, and new technologies for each.

SQL programming skills, including writing optimized SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation.

Manage all stages of the development lifecycle, including planning, requirements gathering, designing, developing, documenting, testing, training, deployment, and support.

Strong communication skills and a desire to engage with business and operations team members.

Own individual and cross-functional team deliverables on small to large projects.

Willingness and availability to travel to manufacturing sites.

Must be a self-starter, able to manage workload autonomously, and balance competing priorities.

Ability and desire to continuously learn about recent technologies and Analytics trends.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, Data Analytics or Science, Information Systems, or a minimum of 4 years of equivalent experience are required.

2-4 years of experience in data engineering or a related competency is required.

Proficiency with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Databricks is required.

Strong SQL and Python programming skills. MS SQL Server preferred.

Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing.

Knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.

Experience in reporting, dashboards, and BI tools (Power BI preferred).

Experience with ERP and MES solutions preferred (D365 and AVEVA MES, in particular).

Experience in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Finance and Accounting solutions preferred.
