We are looking for a Database Engineer to work directly with our System Architects and Tech Leads to support our client's data storage and retrieval needs.

The Data Engineer is a highly organized and detail-oriented person with a passion for data who is responsible for effectively managing and optimizing database systems. This role ensures proper creation and maintenance of databases, data pipelines, and data transformation processes, enabling client teams by providing ad-hoc SQL queries. Acting as a crucial resource for database management and client services data support.

You Will:

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to optimizing workflows and supporting efficient project delivery.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
  • Architect and manage data lakes, data warehouses, and other storage solutions using industry best practices.
  • Optimize data workflows, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in data transformation processes.
  • Maintain a deep knowledge and documentation of our client's data structures.
  • Translate business questions into ad-hoc SQL queries.
  • Leverage tools like AWS Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions to automate workflows.
  • Work closely with System Architects, Tech Leads and the analytics team to enable advanced analytics and reporting.
  • Design and implement data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity and security.


Technologies and Tools:

You will be working with the following core technologies. Extensive knowledge of the following technologies, or equivalent, is required:
  • AWS Services: S3, Redshift, Athena, Glue, Lambda, CloudFormation, and Step Functions
  • Data processing tools: Apache Spark, Data Bricks, or similar platforms
  • Database technologies: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, and data warehouse solutions
  • ETL/ELT tools and frameworks
  • Programming languages: Python and SQL


Experience required:
  • You will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar Data Engineer role
  • Deep SQL knowledge required
  • Python experience required
  • Database management experience including; maintenance, set up, permissions, access, etc
  • Must understand and have used ETL/ELT tools
  • You will have ideally used PostgreSQL or similar SQL flavours in previous roles

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. This range may differ based on your experience and skill set, geographic location, and cost of living considerations. Compensation

$80,000-$100,000 USD
