Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of data lakehouse architecture supporting both BI and AI initiatives.
- Build and optimize scalable data pipelines for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
- Collaborate on the migration from Databricks to Microsoft Fabric, including strategic and tactical overhaul.
- Implement robust data governance, including lineage, metadata, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, PCI DSS).
- Ensure high performance, reliability, and security of the data platform.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to enable advanced analytics, self-service BI, and machine learning capabilities.
- Provide data monitoring, anomaly detection, and ensure data quality and privacy.
- Stay up to date on emerging technologies in cloud data platforms, governance, and analytics.
- Establish and enforce data governance frameworks around data lineage, metadata management, and data cataloging.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- Proficient in ETL/ELT processes and tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, SSIS)
- Skilled in SQL, Python, and Excel
- Experience with cloud platforms and Azure services including Synapse, Databricks, and Fabric.
- Familiarity with Snowflake, Azure SQL, Power BI, and other BI tools
- Working knowledge of data governance tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Informatica)
- Experience with RBAC, row-level security, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile practices
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in retail, C-store, wholesale, or logistics industries
- Familiarity with stream processing, message queuing, and real-time data strategies
- Leadership or mentoring within cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of PowerShell and/or C# is a plus
