Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled MS Access Database Architect to support our project focused on migrating and enhancing MS Access databases. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in building, maintaining, and optimizing MS Access databases, as well as proficiency in SQL Server, VBA, and macros. In this role, you will migrate databases from MS Access 2016 (32-bit) to 2024 (64-bit), automate tasks, improve performance, and support users with training and documentation. Key Responsibilities:
  • Convert MS Access Databases: Migrate existing MS Access databases from 2016 32-bit to 2024 64-bit versions, ensuring data integrity and functionality throughout the process.
  • Database Automation: Develop and implement complex stored procedures in SQL Server to automate MS Access databases, improving efficiency and performance.
  • Database Design & Development: Design, develop, and maintain MS Access databases, including tables, queries, forms, reports, and switchboards.
  • VBA and Macros: Upgrade existing VBA code and write new VBA code and macros to automate tasks and enhance database functionality.
  • Data Integration: Utilize SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) to efficiently integrate and transform data from multiple sources.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring efficient data retrieval and storage.
  • User Support & Training: Provide end-user support and training to ensure smooth operation and effective use of databases.
  • Documentation: Create detailed documentation for database structures, processes, and procedures to ensure long-term support and clarity.
Skills, Experience, and Requirements:
  • Experience: 5 to 7 years of experience in building and maintaining MS Access databases.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in MS Access (tables, queries, forms, reports, switchboards).
    • Strong knowledge of VBA and macros, including the ability to upgrade existing code and write new, efficient VBA code.
    • Experience with SQL Server, including complex stored procedures and SSIS.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot, resolve database issues, and optimize processes.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and interact with end-users.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail to ensure database accuracy and integrity.
