We are seeking a DCS Hardware Specialist to join our Process Automation Team located at our Joffre Site in Central Alberta, near Red Deer. This position will report to the Process Automation Team Leader.
You Will Use Your Expertise To:
- Ensure DCS System reliability and overall health of assets
- Provide Console and PC hardware maintenance
- Deliver UCN/LCN/FTE/SCADA equipment performance monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance
- Ensure DCS backup systems are in place (HM, Fastloads, checkpoints)
- Work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, engineering and other groups to support 24/7 operations
- Provide input into equipment lifecycle opportunities
- Manage availability of critical spare parts
- Maintain evergreen control system documentation
- Integrate, execute and commission DCS projects, FCMs and upgrades
- Respond and diagnose System Alarms, Hardware failures and Software 'hang-ups'
- Coordinate and execute DCS Preventative Maintenance plans
- Interface with cross functional Control Maintenance Technicians (IN, AN, EL) on field troubleshooting activities
- Interface with IT resources on Process Control Network hardware installations
What We Are Looking For:
- A valid Alberta and/or interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate with preference for an Instrumentation Journeyperson Certificate
- A valid Class 5 driver's license
- Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of SAP, well developed Excel and analytical abilities, and a growth mindset
- A working knowledge of computers, with preference given to the Microsoft suite of products and SAP
- Experience with Honeywell controls systems (Experion PKS, TDC 3000)
- Experience with HPM and/or C300 Controllers
- Understanding of various "Data Communication" concepts - Serial, TCPIP, MODBUS, etc.
- A strong ability to establish new and maintain existing preventative maintenance programs
- A mechanical aptitude and technical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively with Maintenance, Operations and Engineering Teams
- Control network experience would be considered an asset
- Familiarity with VMWare would be considered an asset
- Experion Server skills would be considered an asset
- Familiarity with Fiber Optic Maintenance best practices would be considered an asset
- A self-starter mindset, capable of operating independently and as a contributor in a team setting
- An ability to manage workload with minimal supervision, managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic teamwork environment with good prioritization skills
- A demonstrated commitment to Responsible Care practices and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting skills

Additional Information:
- Relocation will be considered for this position
- Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
- This role may require ad hoc travel on an as-needed basis
- Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
- Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
- Overtime and callouts are a requirement of the role due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
- The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver's license
