BASIC PURPOSE: The Dean of Nursing will lead the progress and growth of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program. The school has a traditional and accelerated BSN program with the potential for a master's degree in nursing in the near future. Assumption University is a Catholic institution, and the Dean must be willing and able to lead the programs in accordance with Catholic moral teachings and Catholic healthcare ethics.
The Dean oversees compliance with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) standards related to program mission and governance, faculty qualifications, students, curriculum, and resources. The Dean will be vested with the administrative authority to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected program outcomes of the program and will provide effective leadership to accomplish these goals.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Guiding the implementation of the strategic plan for the program congruent with the University's strategic priorities. Creating and implementing a curriculum that meets the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (BORN) criteria and the American Association of University of Nursing (AACN) Baccalaureate Essentials (2021) and maximizes student success. Sustaining professional accreditation and maintaining all appropriate state, regional, and national Encouraging student learning outcomes including student retention to graduation. Nurturing an inclusive learning environment focused on providing the highest quality of care to patients. Fostering collaborations with healthcare partners in Worcester and the surrounding Developing and maintaining the School of Nursing budget, based upon University guidelines and necessary resources to fulfill the mission. Evaluating nursing faculty and staff performance with constructive guidance. Promoting professional growth among the nursing faculty and encouraging their engagement in service at the school, university, community, and national level. Ensuring nursing faculty are engaged in the development, implementation and evaluation of faculty outcomes in teaching, service, and scholarship.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications include:
- Earned doctorate (PhD or DNP) in nursing or a related field with a master's degree in nursing;
- Experience teaching in baccalaureate nursing programs;
- Current or eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Massachusetts;
- Successful leadership experience in nursing education;
- Previous experience in program development;
- Demonstration of ability to be flexible in evolving situations;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities; and
- Experience with CCNE accreditation and curriculum
