We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Dean of Students to play a critical role in maintaining a positive school culture. This position involves enforcing school policies, fostering high standards of student behavior, and advocating for students, staff, and families. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and relational leader, deeply committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications, but starting $75,000 - $90,000.

Primary Responsibilities:
Student Conduct & Discipline
- Enforce school policies and the student handbook consistently and fairly.
- Document disciplinary infractions in Educator's Handbook and ensure timely follow-up.
- Address disciplinary issues promptly in classrooms, hallways, and common areas.
- Conduct investigations into behavioral incidents, gather statements, and implement appropriate interventions.
- Oversee student detentions, ensuring proper scheduling, supervision, and completion of reflection or restorative actions.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop proactive strategies aimed at reducing disciplinary incidents and improving student behavior.
Building Presence & Supervision
- Conduct daily rounds in both the gym and academic building to monitor student safety, interactions, and to build relationships.
- Be highly visible during passing periods, lunch, arrival, and dismissal to supervise students and offer proactive support.
- Address student behavior concerns in real-time to maintain a structured and positive environment.
Student Support & Advocacy
- Advocate for students by balancing accountability with guidance and support.
- Work alongside counseling staff to identify and address the needs of students facing attendance, behavioral, or social-emotional challenges.
- Develop and implement intervention plans that address conduct issues while encouraging personal growth.
- Meet one-on-one with students to provide coaching on behavioral expectations, decision-making, and self-regulation.
Family & Community Engagement
- Schedule and lead meetings with families to discuss concerns about student behavior, attendance, and support strategies.
- Act as a liaison between the school and families, ensuring effective communication and promoting involvement in student success.
- Collaborate with community organizations and external agencies to provide additional resources for students and their families.
Attendance & Truancy Intervention
- Address attendance issues, working with students and families to improve attendance and student engagement.
- Monitor chronic absenteeism and collaborate with counselors, teachers, and social workers to create intervention plans.
- Work with the Assistant Principal for Student Safety and Conduct to implement strategies for reducing tardiness and truancy.
School Culture & Student Engagement
- Foster a positive school culture by building relationships with students, modeling professionalism, and promoting respect within the learning environment.
- Attend school events, performances, and athletic games to show school spirit and support students.
- Collaborate with student leaders and faculty to reinforce positive behavior and clear expectations across the school community.
Work Schedule & Expectations:
- Full-time, 10-month position with some required evening and weekend responsibilities (including events like dances, performances, major athletic events, and disciplinary follow-ups).
- Work hours: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
- Active presence in high-traffic student areas throughout the day.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or Administration preferred.
- Experience in student management, discipline, counseling, or related roles within a school setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Proven ability to handle conflict resolution and difficult conversations professionally and calmly.
- Knowledge of restorative practices and student behavior interventions is preferred.
- A strong commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and safe school environment.
