As a Decision Scientist on our Location Decision Science team, you'll partner directly with real estate, operations and finance leaders to develop market growth strategies and deliver recommendations on store and supply chain location decisions. You'll help with retail strategy, forecasting, data modeling, customer analytics, assessment of key performance drivers and development of innovative research methodologies. The role requires strong financial acumen, communication skills, advanced coding abilities and the ability to present complex analyses to executive leadership. This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. What you'll do
- Collaborate with leaders across data & analytics, real estate, finance, omnichannel operations, supply chain and store experience design to deliver optimal investment outcomes
- Provide portfolio recommendations and long-term strategy planning for over 1,000 stores across the United States and Canada
- Leverage internal and external data sets to monitor consumer behavior and inform strategic investment decisions
- Develop market assessments based on economic, competitive, consumer and industry trends
- Develop dashboards that will be used by internal and partner teams for quick performance assessments and diagnostics
Basic qualifications
- 3 years of experience in retail or real estate analytics, strategy or related field
- 3 years of experience with SQL coding for data analysis (typical on-prem SQL data warehouses and/or cloud-based warehouses like Google Cloud Platform)
- 3 years of experience creating visualizations or presentations for non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in analytics, planning, geography or related field
- Experience with GIS or other spatial analysis tools
- Experience with Alteryx
- Ability to use diagnostic analytics (regression, decision trees, etc) to inform KPI development
- Master's degree or MBA
