Position Summary:
The Dental Hygienist plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered oral health care at the Damien Center Dental Clinic (opening Q2 2025). This position works closely with the Dental Director and clinical team to provide preventive care, oral health education, and periodontal maintenance for patients. The Dental Hygienist will emphasize trauma-informed, culturally competent care, particularly for individuals living with or at risk for HIV.

The brand-new Dental Clinic is open Monday-Thursday. We are open to someone working Monday-Thursday, or 2 part-time people each working 2 days/week.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including removing plaque, calculus, and stains.
  • Conduct oral cancer screenings and periodontal examinations, identifying potential health concerns.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Apply fluoride and sealants to prevent tooth decay.
  • Administer local anesthesia as permitted by Indiana state regulations.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, nutrition, and preventive dental care.
  • Provide post-operative and periodontal maintenance instructions.
  • Develop and present individualized oral care plans for patients.
  • Collaborate with the Dental Director and clinical team to create and implement treatment plans.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile clinical environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA, CDC, and infection control protocols.
  • Ensure that all dental instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained.
  • Participate in staff meetings, continuing education programs, and quality improvement initiatives to foster a culture of learning and clinical excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dental Director or Dental Practice Manager.

Qualifications:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in dental Hygiene from a CODA-accredited program.
  • Valid Dental Hygienist license issued by the State of Indiana.
  • Valid Dental Radiographer license issued by the State of Indiana.
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years clinical experience as a dental hygienist, preferably in Community Health Center/FQHC setting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/ English a plus.

Salary & Benefits:
  • FLSA Status: Hourly, Full-time, Non-Exempt
  • Salary: $39-41/hr
  • 150 hours of PTO in the first year followed by 195 hours per year moving forward.
