Summary:
Provides dental care in a clinical setting utilizing the skills and knowledge of a New York State licensed dentist.
Duties:
Advises Clinical Dental Officer in the formulation of dental related policies and procedures. Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of a quality assurance CQI program. Develops and maintains working contact with outside and ancillary service agencies in meeting the needs of the patients. Makes referrals of patients to outside providers, as necessary. Participates in community education programs to promote good oral hygiene and dental care, primarily but not limited to, SNI Day Care/Montessori Center and Headstart Program. Attends all mandatory staff meetings and in-services. Follows all policies of SNHD. Works to promote cooperative staff efforts to provide and maintain high quality service to patients, physicians and other staff to assure quality patient care. Where applicable, must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all ages. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's/area's/department's policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
Must be a NYS licensed dentist in good standing or USPHS Commissioned Corp. Must have basic background in computer and keyboarding.
