The Project Controls Department Manager oversees and leads a team and ensures adherence to meet quality standards by implementing and maintaining effective project controls processes for the business.

Job Description

  • Communicates a strong sense of urgency about solving problems and successfully completing work.
  • Ability to develop and implement new ideas and initiatives that improve the organizations performance.
  • Support the Director of Project Services with department initiatives and objectives.
  • This role requires several skills, including self-motivation, initiative, resourcefulness, confidence, dependability, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain Close interface with Key stake holders and deliver accurate and timely communication to involved parties.
  • Responsible for managing and supervising a team of Project Controls staff members (Senior & Junior) made up of Project Controls Managers and Project Controls Specialists.
  • Reviewing current performance & teams dynamics to ensure they align with and meet strategic objectives.
  • Oversees the performance of project controls on projects which includes Planning and Scheduling, Risk, Document control, Administration, Fiscal Integrity, Change Management, Contracts Mgmt., Business process compliance and maximizing project & business financial performance,
  • Provides leadership and expertise to the team on projects controls best practices (systems and processes) and ensures these are implemented and continue to deliver accurate project status.
  • Leads succession and employee development efforts to assure longer term demands of the organization. Acts as a coach and mentor to direct team.
  • Establish department and individual goals/objectives and directs and actively participates as necessary in the achievement of responsibilities and objectives. Providing leadership and guidance, and ensuring the department meets its goals.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of projects controls policies, manuals and standard operating procedures to support NAM business unit operations.
  • Stakeholder's interface, facilitation and resolution of issues that may impact department and project objectives.


You are meant for this job if:

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Construction Management or relevant field.
  • Minimum 15+ years of experience in projects controls including 5+ years managerial (leading and managing a large team).
  • Effective communication skills, critical thinking with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of business operations.
  • Good understanding of project execution (EPC, iEPCI, T&I etc)
  • Ability to evaluate and resolve problems quickly and independently.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) & PowerBI a plus).
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks in a high-volume environment and be able to work effectively with interruptions.
  • Must be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgrounds; must be able to produce accurate and timely results while maintaining a customer-service attitude.
  • Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information and issues
