Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the review of University Building Projects for compliance with the Florida Building Code.
Conduct review of construction documents and construction inspections of University Building Projects for Compliance with Florida Building Code.
Act as assistant to the University's Building Official in the accomplishment of the mission of the Building Code Administration section to ensure that construction, and maintenance activities on University facilities comply with the appropriate regulations.
Perform supervisory activities of BCA sections staff to include coordination of daily work efforts, educational opportunities, and requirements.
Interact with all construction project team members (University Project Manager, Design Professionals and Contractor and Sub-Contractor personnel) to ensure compliance with Florida Building Code is maintained.
Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures associated with the activities of the Building & Fire Safety sections.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalency and seven years of experience in the same. (Note: a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to seven years in the same.)
Ability to adhere to ethical business practices and promote ethical behavior.
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Ability to conduct audits and investigations.
Ability to provide leadership and direction in programmatic, budgetary, and operational functions.
Knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodology in designing, estimating, planning, and inspecting construction projects and managing project schedules.
Knowledge of processes, procedures, and methods used in master planning.
Knowledge of emergency communications and hazard response practices, procedures, and protocols.
Possess or the ability to obtain within 120 days of employment a standard or provisional Florida license as Plans Reviewer and Inspector in two (2) disciplines (Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, or Fire) in accordance with Florida Statutes 468 and 633.
Possess or the ability to obtain within one year of employment a Florida Building Code Administration license.
A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
