Description
Hennepin Health is seeking a Deputy Compliance and Privacy Officer to develop and lead a robust compliance, privacy, and contracts management program. In this role, you will work in collaboration with the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, and the operational leadership of Hennepin Health. This position is ideal for a motivated, enthusiastic candidate looking for the opportunity to serve in a leadership role in one of the most exciting and innovative healthcare projects in Minnesota.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at Hennepin Health offices, located in the Health Services Building, 525 Portland Ave, in downtown Minneapolis and remote as job duties require. This location is accessible by public transportation and light rail. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In this position, you will:
- Supervise staff who manage Hennepin Health appeal and grievance programs and vendor contracting.
- Collaborate in the development and maintenance of the Hennepin Health Compliance Program, work plan, audit and training plans, policies, and compliance reviews.
- Partner with operational leadership to communicate compliance priorities and initiatives to staff and to execute planned compliance activities.
- Respond to, and work with business areas to resolve compliance concerns.
- Co-Chair the Compliance committee with the Chief Compliance and Government Relations Officer ensuring that executive leadership and the governing board is apprised of compliance activities and corrective action plans.
- Oversee and track internal compliance monitoring and audits of delegated entities in cooperation with Hennepin Health operational leadership, including ongoing compliance monitoring of first tier, downstream, and related entities.
- Lead the preparation, data collection, and other critical aspects of external audits by the Department of Human Services (DHS), Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), Minnesota Department of Commerce (DOC), Office of Inspector General (OIG), and other regulatory bodies, and ensure corrective actions are correctly completed and documented.
- Represent Hennepin Health at internal and external meetings, including countywide workgroups, related to compliance, privacy, and program integrity.
- Coordinate with other county staff to monitor legislative activity and provide strategic recommendations on potential legislative impacts.
Need to have:
One of the following
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration or other field appropriate to the position and five or more years of experience working in a healthcare related or managed care environment.
- Nine years or more of experience working in a healthcare related or managed care environment. Note: Experience in general administrative work related to the management of departmental/organizational operations or in a specialty area appropriate to the position may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Nice to have:
- Three or more years of experience performing compliance and/or privacy oversight functions in healthcare, particularly government programs.
- Experience:
- Working with regulators, privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Minnesota Health Records Act and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
- Supervising staff directly.
- Ability to:
- Write clear, concise reports.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal business staff, industry leaders and regulators.
- Manage large workloads that includes coordination of multiple competing deadlines.
- Familiarity with using data to perform compliance audits and investigations, including basic to intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel.
