The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as a Deputy Department Director, Sr. The selected candidate will be responsible for project management for over 80 million dollars in annual CIP spending and engineering support for gas, water, wastewater and electric utilities. If the position is filled with a highly qualified candidate, it will have a substantial impact on the City of Richmond.

The City of Richmond Department of Public Utilities seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as a Deputy Department Director, Sr. The selected candidate will be responsible for project management for over 80 million dollars in annual CIP spending and engineering support for gas, water, wastewater and electric utilities. Duties include but are not limited to
- Management of Engineering and design of baseline CIP projects.
- Development of a comprehensive DPU GIS application integrated with a state-of-the art asset management system.
- Asset optimization and network flow analysis for DPU's $1 Billion of assets.
- Standards and procedures development and updates.
- Project records to include complete and up to date as built drawings.
- DPU review of all third-party construction projects (to include Developers, DPW and VDOT projects) through the Development Services group.
- Intake and processing of all gas, water and sewer permits.
- Development and implementation of a SCADA master plan; and Instrumentation and Control design and integration functions.
Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in public administration or field directly related to assignment
- Eight years of progressively responsible related experience that includes significant management and supervisory experience
- Some departments may prefer a Master's Degree in a field directly related to the assignment
- Some positions may have additional specialized requirements
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
