THIS IS A DEPARTMENTAL PROMOTIONAL POSTING OPPORTUNITY. ONLY CURRENT EMPLOYEES OF HAMILTON COUNTY PROCUREMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
Under general direction from the Director of Procurement & Fleet Management, oversees the management of Procurement and Fleet related work for the County. Provides for the managerial, supervisory, and administrative functions in support of the Director and in the Director's absence. Provides general direction to the management team and staff of the department and support to other departments and agencies. Manages the day-to-day workflow of the department in cooperation with department managers and supervisors. Expressly responsible for the continued advancement of department policies and procedures.

This is a Fair Labor Standards Act defined Exempt Position - Exempt positions are excluded from minimum wage, overtime regulations, and other rights and protections afforded nonexempt workers. The employee in this position is paid a salary rather than an hourly wage for this position. FLSA does not limit the amount of work time an employer may require or expect from any exempt employee, on any schedule. Hamilton County Government expects an employee in this position to complete the work assigned regardless the amount of hours involved in completing the tasks assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in Purchasing, Public Administration, Business, or a closely related field plus six (6) years of direct work experience in Purchasing, Public Administration, Business, or a closely related field, three (3) years of which must be in a supervisory capacity. A valid driver's license is required.
OR
An Associate's Degree in Purchasing, Public Administration, Business, or a closely related field plus eight (8) years of direct work experience in Purchasing, Public Administration, Business, or a closely related field, three (3) years of which must be in a supervisory capacity. A valid driver's license is required.
OR
The equivalent of a high school diploma plus ten (10) years of direct work experience in Purchasing, Public Administration, Business, or a closely related field, three (3) years of which must be in a supervisory capacity. A valid driver's license is required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
CPPB or NIGP-CPP certification at time of hire or ability to obtain within three (3) years of date of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Purchasing or Public Administration is preferred.
CPPO certification is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires minimal physical effort with intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional visits to construction and project work sites are required
