The SARA High Power Electromagnetics Division (HPEM) is looking for a remarkably talented and motivated Design Assurance / Test Engineer to support research and development activities and transition innovative technologies to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors in Colorado Springs, CO. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and lead alongside talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on both new and long-standing programs supporting our customers. Our small group will allow the candidate to experience, contribute, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary nature from conception all the way through to operation in a team-focused environment.
This candidate will support company objectives by developing test methodologies and performing testing on the various facets of real-time control systems. They will create, implement and execute comprehensive test methodologies-including tools, plans, and procedures-across all facets of real-time control systems.

Pay Range
Salary at SARA is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $105,000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of SARA's total compensation package for employees. Positions are on-site, unless indicated otherwise.

Core Responsibilities:
- Firmware Testing and Validation: Plan, execute, and document comprehensive firmware test protocols to ensure robust performance and reliability.
- Firmware Interface Software Testing and Validation: Create and implement test strategies for interface software, verifying seamless integration and system functionality.
- Small-Scale Production Testing of Controller PCBs: Conduct targeted production-level tests on controller PCB assemblies, identifying and resolving issues to maintain product quality.
- Test Tool Development (Software/Firmware): Design and maintain custom testing tools to streamline validation processes and enhance efficiency.
- Test Plan and Procedure Development: Develop, update, and standardize test plans and procedures in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or a related field - or equivalent industry experience
- 0-5 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in C and C#
- Familiarity with testing methodologies and best practices
- Hands-On Experience with data acquisition equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
- Self-Motivated and able to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment
- Strong Communication Skills (written, verbal, interpersonal)
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret DoD security clearance
- May require light physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 25 pounds
- Working environment is indoor, moderately quiet, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated, moderate physical hazards may exist
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Top Secret or DoE Q Clearance
- Hands-On Experience developing C code for STM32 Microcontrollers
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics
- Skill in basic electronic troubleshooting
- Experience with software projects involving hardware integration
