SUMMARY OF POSITION

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for implementing a driven, team-oriented culture, which embraces continuous improvements and ensures across the board operational and process excellence in all areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervise and manage mechanical design functions to meet company goals & objectives
- Participates in the completion of design projects whenever necessary to augment the design capacity as a lead designer or quality checker
- Collaborates with Ascent project management, manufacturing, quality, and accounting to develop project plans, quality plans, project technical requirements and budgets
- Identifies customer driven changes that impact schedule and budgets. Coordinates impact with Ascent project management and key account managers as required for presentation of changes to the customer for approval and/or negotiation.
- Identifies internal issues which may impact committed schedules and develops solutions to bring project back in-line with commitments
- Develops training and implementation planning for continuous quality improvement to reduce rework & inefficiencies.
- Establishes the performance goals, allocates resources, and assesses policies for employees in coordination with management directives
- Interacts with customer representatives in a professional and timely manner to build the Ascent reputation as a company that values all aspects of quality, schedule compliance and overall service
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:
- High school diploma or GED
- 10+ years of experience in Tool Engineering or Tool Design
- 3+ years leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing or design environment
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and working knowledge of MS Project
- Understanding of ASME Y14.5M-1994 Dimensioning and Tolerance standard
- This position must meet Export Control Compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22.C.F.R. is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Proficient with CATIA V5, NX
- Experience with FEA software MSC Nastran a plus
- Able to work varied shifts, overtime and weekends when necessary
- Must have a willingness to apply for DOD Clearance
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
- Design group personnel within Mechanical Engineering department
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out-of-the-area and overnight travel
COMPENSATION
Compensation will be based on geographic location and candidate experience
- Range 1 $140,000-$160,000
- Range 2 $110,000-$140,000
WORKING CONDITIONS

- Typically sits for extended periods at a computer workstation
- May access and work in the manufacturing plant
- While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles
- The employee may be exposed to vibration
- The employee is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
- May be required to travel to other site locations during the work day
- May be required to work weekends to meet department and business demands
- Work with safe manufacturing processes and understand that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area.
- Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area
