Description:

As a Design Team Lead Engineer, you will be the key design interface in the product development process, in concert with a Project Manager and New Product Launch Manager. You will lead a team of engineers and technicians through the design process, ensuring the design performance meets the expected requirements and the deliverables are thoroughly detailed and vetted. The focus of this role will mainly be (but not limited to) the development of electronic control units.

For our mutual success, you will need to:-
  • Assess requirements and prepare estimates of effort, tools, and timing for project quotations & to support annual budget process.
  • Ensure deliverables are at the appropriate maturity level by project milestones. Deliverables include drawings, schematics, worst-case and performance analysis, simulation, validation plans and test reports, DFMEA, specification compliance assessment, BOM releases, component specifications, etc.
  • Drive design reviews: ensure the right audience, sufficient time is provided, that action items are assigned & driven to completion.
  • Ensure coordination of validation activities: quotation & scheduling of validation labs, development and procurement of validation test fixtures and setups, preparation for testing, execution of tests, and resolution of any resulting concerns.
  • Verify compliance with customer specifications, interface with customers to clarify requirements, and develop performance specifications where none are available.
  • Work with New Product Launch Manager to apply design-for-manufacturability feedback and lessons learned to new products.
  • Partner with New Product Launch Manager with prototype sample builds (for both internal and external use) and industrialization of design.
  • Drive development of manufacturing test requirement specification.
  • Assist manufacturing with troubleshooting and quality improvement of released products.
  • Lead problem solving / corrective action activities.
  • Develop recommendations for advanced technology integration, new processes, and design changes to meet new requirements or reduce cost.
  • Manage own professional development by identifying and set up training for skills and/or tools, in alignment with department manager.


Qualifications:-
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
  • 10+ years of design & development experience over entire product development lifecycle
  • Experience leading people
  • Problem-solving skills & techniques: 5 why, 8D, Ishikawa diagram
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis methods and tools (have performed capability analyses, use of Minitab or similar software, and knowledge of statistical process control [SPC])
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable in the use of mechanical tools.
  • Automotive product development experience, strong interaction with supply chain, quality, & manufacturing in a new product introduction environment-Preferred
  • Reliability analysis experience-Preferred
  • An ability to work well under pressure-Preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration capabilities
