DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Development department is responsible for the fundraising to support the Center's many programs and services that are not financially supported by government grants. The department raises nearly $20 million through individual gifts, private foundation grants, corporate donations, estate, and legacy gifts, as well as several fundraising events such as the annual Vanguard Awards Gala.

JOB SUMMARY: The Development Operations Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the fundraising efforts of the Development Operations team. This position is responsible for accurately recording all donations to the Center as well as operates as a research specialist for assigned priorities by conducting complex research and providing reports/briefings to best equip development officers and other stakeholders with the tools to advance fundraising initiatives and maintaining the CRM database to enhance overall development activities. Additionally, this position contributes to achieving the agency's revenue goals by providing excellent customer support to staff members, donors, board members, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

% of Role ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

% Prospect Research and Pipeline Development
Serve as the main point of contact for fundraising partners on research requests aligned with organizational fundraising priorities.
Conduct detailed research on prospects, assign gift capacity ratings, and analyze wealth indicators.
Prepare comprehensive briefings for fundraisers ahead of donor meetings, events, and other interactions.
Support prospect screening to identify and qualify new and existing donor prospects, strengthening the donor pipeline.
Collaborate with fundraisers to implement portfolio rebalancing and optimize donor pipeline processes.
Ensure adherence to ethical research practices and data privacy regulations, including HIPAA.

% Donor Engagement and Recognition
Manage donor recognition programs, including acknowledgment and receipting for memberships, major gifts, and other donor levels.
Work with Major Gifts staff to enhance stewardship efforts and deepen donor engagement through strategic moves management.
Collaborate with teams to design and monitor fundraising campaigns, including monthly donor programs and peer-to-peer initiatives, while tracking performance.

% Event and Campaign Support
Provide operational support for development events, such as managing databases, creating invitations, and segmenting invitation lists.
Coordinate with event staff to track event gifts, auction items, and participation, and provide support at events as needed.

% Development Operations
Maintain CRM databases, including gift batching, acknowledgment processing, and donor contact updates.
Manage corporate matching gift programs and maintain relationships with corporate partners.
Assist with revenue reconciliation for monthly and fiscal year reporting in collaboration with Development and Finance teams.
Track check deposits, lockbox transactions, and Finance reports to ensure accurate financial records.
Complete additional projects as assigned by Development leadership.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.
A passion for the Center's work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.
Experience conducting in-depth donor research and data analysis to identify prospects, trends and identification markers that can assist in the development of new support for the Center.
Teamwork-oriented and committed to the achievement of department and organization's mission.
Strong customer service skills, particularly via telephone.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word), strong familiarity with CRM databases (preferably Salesforce, but not required), and aptitude for learning new software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in accounting or finance.
