Position Description

As a Device and Technology Development Manager, you will work in a dynamic team environment, reporting to the Senior Director in charge of the IC Technology Development team at ON Semiconductor. This focus of this position is to work with a highly capable team of technology developers to define, develop and implement process technology for the manufacture of integrated silicon devices. The team operates with significant autonomy and charter to create future value for the company. As leader of the team, you're primary responsibilities will be to work with them in design rule definition, device architecture, process flow implementation, process module development, electrical characterization and technology qualification for new silicon technology developments; design support for our BU with their foundry and transfers of existing silicon technologies in and out of ON Semiconductor's fabs.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a multi-disciplinary technology development team to create innovative, differentiated analog, mixed-signal and BCD power management, wireless connectivity, embedded control, and/or motor driver products for Industrial IoT, HPPC, Cloud Computing and Automotive Applications.
  • Leverage existing company-wide technology strengths and fold in newly developed or acquired IP to prove out new technologies, capabilities, and product concepts.
  • Collaborate with ON's system architects and relevant business units to create differentiated, BU-agnostic product definitions and enable commercialization of advanced technology
  • Develop detailed implementation plans and schedules for IC or sub system development projects, and ensure timely execution
  • Work effectively across organizational boundaries; collaborate with other stakeholders to maximize creation and reuse of devices, technology integration, IP, best practices, and design practices.
  • Participate actively in key company technology counsels, and collaborate with appropriate business units and corporate management stakeholders on advanced technology needs
  • Work with your team in defining: device architecture, technology design rules, electrical target specs, process development and characterization, test structures and statistical experiments to optimize and characterize
  • Work Define device architecture, technology design rules and electrical target specifications.
  • Support in facilitating process improvements and/or fixes for problems of poor reliability or low yield.


Required Minimum Education and/or Experience
  • MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum 15 years overall experience, with 8-10 years' experience as a technology manager leading a team in the development of Analog, BCD or mixed signal power management and/or wireless product technology development.
  • Working knowledge in semiconductor process technology and wafer fabrication.
  • Experience with multiple technology nodes required.
  • Experience with 130, 90, 65 & 40nm preferred.

  • Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics including technology integration using CMOS, DMOS and Bipolar devices.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following technologies: Silicon on Insulator (SOI), CMOS Image Sensors (CIS), EEPROM, Dual Damascene copper integration
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following engineering disciplines: Process Integration, Design, Modeling, and/or Process Engineering.
  • Knowledge of one or more Wafer Level Reliability (WLR) and Intrinsic Reliability testing methodology, such as gate oxide integrity (GOI), VRamp, time dependent dielectric breakdown (TDDB), hot carrier injection (HCI), electromigration (EM), stress migration (SM).
  • Knowledge of device and process simulations, TCAD desired.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.


onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $184,000 - $331,000 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
