DevOps Engineer - Senior (6-10 Years)

Summary:
  • Interpret written requirements & technical specifications for software solutions to business problems. Will develop software based on technical specifications. Will analyze & investigate problems with software solutions reported by clients & document the results of their investigation(s). Will perform maintenance of software & correct defects identified during the maintenance process. Will run unit tests on software they create, implement test plans, test harnesses & document test results. Will investigate & suggest solutions to defects & problems with software solutions detected during testing. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment & possess strong written & verbal communication skills. Job Details: We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a small team supporting developers & work collaboratively with agile teams to build, test & deploy new product offerings. Our technology stack is built on Java, Python & Scala, running in AWS. You will be involved in all SDLC aspects: design build pipelines, support cloud environments & work on various POCs. You will gain a deep understanding of the applications to identify needed monitors & create suitable runbooks. Your role will require a wealth of knowledge & field-proven experience to deliver on the success of the initiatives.
  • Required Skills 10 years of DevOps experience in a Linux environment 10 years of Cloud experience with AWS 'solid understanding of Cloud architectures & best practices 'strong knowledge of AWS services with hands-on experience 'strong knowledge of networking concepts such as routing, subnetting, NATing etc 'strong Linux sysadmin skills, the shell is your best friend proficiency in scripting languages including Bash & Python practical experience with Docker containerization strong experience with CI/CD tooling, preferably Bamboo experience with IaC, preferably Terraform ?experience with configuration management tools, preferably Salt 'strong analytical & problem-solving skills strong documentation & communication skills Preferred Skills bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field AWS Certifications Additional Job Details include: 1)Maintain Websphere & PCF based lower (Sandboxes/Dev/QA/Pre-Prod) environments from a code deployment perspective2)Maintain test automation environments, code repository & code branches (in BitBucket)3)Work with DBAs to maintain test data in lower environments4)Minimize service disruption to lower environments by working with cross enterprise development teams & mitigation plans5)Develop & maintain CI/CD scripts for tools like Bamboo & Jenkins6)Maintain lower environments from a OS level patching perspective7)Maintain Jenkins & windows nodes on app servers for build & automation testing8)Support cross functional teams within Advice Technology from a Release Management perspective)

  • THESE ROLES ARE EXPECTED TO BE LOCAL TO WORK HYBRID - 1 TO 2 DAYS PER WEEK. OK WITH AUSTIN, WESTLAKE, DALLAS AND PHEONIX. HIGHLIGHTED SKILLS ---- Additional skill set we can add is the candidate should have experience in Linux, shell scripting, SFTP, Splunk. So its SFMC SRE role where they have to work in a production environment to support the systems. What you're good at Previous experience administering mission critical application environments that require 100% uptime is preferred, as is a working knowledge of web based application development. Strong customer advocacy and continuous process improvement focus is a must. Demonstrated ability to resolve business and service impacting problems, evaluating all alternatives and consulting with other technical members of the organization is required. What you'll have The ideal candidate will have 6 to 8 years of experience in a site reliability and/or devops team. This position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with peers and business partners. Must demonstrate strong problem solving skills and the willingness to learn new technologies. Work with Build/Run teams to review current practices and make recommendations on adopting Continuous Delivery best practices. The individual will be expected to assist Build/Run teams in establishing or enhancing their build, deploy, configuration management, and release engineering related activities. Assist in analyzing application configuration management issues in production and test (non-production) environments.
  • Develop and maintain configuration and release scripts. Provide release planning services and installation script development for new applications where necessary. Develop automated build jobs using continuous integration platforms such as Bamboo. Develop/improve automated deployment jobs using common scripting languages. Develop/improve and deploy source code branching methodologies and associated automation. Develop/improve release process improvements and update release standards documentation. Peer review change tickets to ensure accuracy of application change activities and mitigate risk. Complete assigned tasks by working with individuals and teams that are geographically dispersed. Actively participating in mentoring junior team members. Work with Team Leads across the organization to design and implement process improvement in our Build and Deploy space. Knowledge and experience with Windows 2008/2012/2016 operating systems, IIS, SQL Knowledge of Windows infrastructure, Active Directory, PowerShell and Server administration. Experience & proficiency in one or more major programming or scripting languages (i.e. PowerShell, JavaScript, C#, Python, Java). Experience working with Cloud computing solutions, preferably Pivotal Cloud Foundry. Experience using Agile methodologies and Atlassian tools. Experience using application and synthetic monitoring tools, such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, etc. Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to thrive in a flexible and fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
