Job Description
The DevOps Engineer (Security & Cloud) will be responsible for driving best practices in DevOps software development, automating infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and ensuring the smooth deployment of applications across AWS and Kubernetes environments.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of cloud infrastructure.
- Design, develop, and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline code deployment, improve testing efficiency, and reduce manual intervention.
- Ensure that all deployment and infrastructure processes follow DevOps best practices, including automation, version control, and testing.
- Integrate CI/CD pipelines with Terraform for automated infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Write, manage, and debug Terraform scripts to automate cloud infrastructure deployment and configuration, ensuring infrastructure is versioned and reproducible.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure that Terraform code is modular, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to Terraform deployments, ensuring that infrastructure provisioning runs smoothly across environments.
- Utilize Python and/or Java for scripting, automation, and custom application development in a DevOps environment.
- Develop custom tooling and utilities for cloud management, system monitoring, and automation.
- Create and maintain reusable libraries, functions, and scripts to interact with cloud resources, Kubernetes, and other infrastructure components.
- Build, deploy, and manage applications and infrastructure on AWS, utilizing services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, and more.
- Architect highly available, secure, and scalable solutions on AWS, following AWS best practices for cost optimization and performance.
- Ensure the proper configuration of security settings, access management, and resource provisioning in AWS.
- Automate infrastructure management and deployment using AWS-native tools and services, as well as Terraform.
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters (preferably Amazon EKS) to support containerized applications and microservices.
- Optimize Kubernetes clusters for scalability, high availability, and cost efficiency.
- Implement and manage Kubernetes-based applications using Helm charts and other deployment tools.
- Monitor the performance of Kubernetes clusters and troubleshoot issues such as container failures, node crashes, and scaling problems.
- Develop, deploy, and manage Ansible playbooks to automate configuration management and infrastructure provisioning tasks.
- Ensure that systems and environments are properly configured and consistent across all stages of the pipeline.
- Integrate Ansible automation into the CI/CD pipeline for seamless deployment and configuration management.
- Lead the migration of on-premises Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications to the cloud, specifically AWS.
- Develop strategies for cloud adoption and container migration, including managing data storage, networking, and resource scaling during the transition.
- Address and resolve challenges related to infrastructure compatibility, security, and performance during the migration process.
- Implement and manage Rancher Kubernetes Engine (RKE2) for container orchestration and management across hybrid cloud environments.
- Optimize RKE2 clusters for enhanced security, scalability, and performance.
- Work with teams to design and deploy containerized workloads using RKE2, ensuring efficient use of cloud resources.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to RKE2 clusters, ensuring high availability and consistency.
Qualification
- Active Top-Secret clearance
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a relate field of study.
- 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or a related role.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with DevOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and continuous integration processes.
- Proven experience in developing, deploying, and debugging Terraform code to automate cloud infrastructure management.
- Proficiency in Python and/or Java for scripting, automation, and tool development.
- Extensive experience with AWS infrastructure, including services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, and VPC.
- Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and scaling Kubernetes clusters (preferably Amazon EKS) in a production environment.
- Expertise in Ansible for automating configuration management and system administration tasks.
- Proven experience migrating on-premises Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications to the cloud, ensuring a smooth and secure transition.
- Experience managing and optimizing Rancher Kubernetes Engine (RKE2) clusters for container orchestration.
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack to ensure system health and performance.
- Knowledge of cloud-native application architectures, serverless technologies, and microservices design.
- Familiarity with security best practices in cloud environments and containerized applications.
