General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is currently seeking a Diagnostic Radiology Supervisor to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. This position is for experienced Radiology Technologists to coordinate and direct subordinate personnel, including clerical personnel, Patient Services Assistants, and technical personnel engaged in performing diagnostic radiological procedures.

As a Supervisor of Diagnostic Radiology, you will be responsible for evaluating the accuracy of x-rays and demonstrate proper techniques and procedures to ensure compliance with standards and policies. Additionally, you will ensure that departmental operations are conducted safely and contact hospital or outside repair personnel as necessary.

Primary Duties:

  • Hire, train, evaluate and develop subordinate staff in accordance with defined policies and objectives. Set standards for the conduct of work and for required performance and ensure compliance with such standards.


  • Train all technologists and clerical staff to complete required functions on the Radiology Information System and maintain proper use of the system by all personnel. Orient, train, schedule, and evaluate the performance of subordinate personnel.


  • Confirm the maintenance of adequate levels of supplies to perform general radiology procedures. Evaluate quality and cost effectiveness of new or replacement supplies. Make recommendations to superior regarding the acquisition of supplies and equipment.


  • Collect data regarding anticipated personnel, supply and equipment needs in order to contribute to the development of radiology policies, procedures and operating budgets.


  • Monitor technical accuracy of films. Direct retakes and demonstrates proper operation of new and existing equipment.


Qualifications:

  • Associate degree OR 1 - 3 years formal training in Radiological Technology


  • 1 - 2 years of progressively more responsible job-related experience


  • ARRT registration within 1 year required


This position has a hiring range of $87,318 - $157,289
