Job Summary:
The Foundation Development Director oversees the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising efforts which include major gifts, planned giving, and kind-donations. Looks for financial support from business, organizations and individuals. Strengthens relationships with existing donors. Identifies and stewards prospective donors. Creates and implements a comprehensive development plan designed to address the specific financial needs of the Hospitals.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Work Experience:
Five years of management experience required. Work experience in fundraising, with first-hand in broad-based program and personnel management. Experience playing a key role in a major capital campaign; preferably in healthcare setting.
Licenses/Certification/Registrations:
None.
Education and Training:
Master's degree in a related field is required.
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of fundraising theory and practice, donor acknowledgment processes, stewardship program design and implementation, and special events coordination. The ability and personality to work collaboratively, to accept responsibility, and to motivate colleagues as well as volunteers and donors. Clear concise oral and written communication to prepare and present marketing and promotional programs. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, officials, physicians, and the general public. Ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation or to develop creative ways to solve a problem. Ability to manage time effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives, engage diverse audiences, and present complex information in a clear and concise manner. Strong organizational, analytical, technical, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, self-motivated, flexible, thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Requires impeccable attention to detail and excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines. A strong commitment to the mission and values of the nonprofit organization. Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends for events and meetings. Development skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Strong organizational and time-management skills are crucial. Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including staff, volunteers, donors, and external partners. Interpersonal skills: Ability to work well with others, build relationships, and work effectively in a team environment. Must be able to interact with people at all levels of the organization. Technology skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and event management software. Familiarity with donor and prospecting tools, such as Blackbaud. Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, as required by the event schedule. Travel may also be required. Problem-solving skills: Ability to think creatively, troubleshoot issues, and find solutions under pressure. Passion for the cause: A genuine interest in and commitment to the nonprofit's mission and goals.
