Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources, serving as a Strategic HR Business Partner to leadership, leads talent management and talent acquisition initiatives while navigating the complexities of a unionized workforce within the Health System . This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent in alignment with the organization's strategic objectives, w hile ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and labor relations laws.
Key Responsibilities
Performance/Talent Management:

  • Oversee the performance management process for unionized employees, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers on performance feedback, goal setting, and development planning.
  • Collaborate with leadership to address performance-related issues, implement corrective actions, and support employee development.
  • Develop and implement talent management strategies, including workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development programs.
Talent Acquisition:

  • Lead the talent acquisition function in a union environment, ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements, labor laws, and organizational policies.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract diverse talent pools, job fairs, and other recruitment channels.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure fair and equitable recruitment and selection processes.
Union Relations:

  • Serve as a liaison between management and union representatives, fostering open communication and collaboration to address employee concerns and resolve conflicts.
  • Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreements and labor relations policies to ensure compliance and fair treatment of unionized employees.
  • Collaborate with union leadership to negotiate labor contracts, resolve grievances, and implement union-sponsored programs and initiatives.
Employee Engagement and Retention :

  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to promote a positive work environment and enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Partner with HR team to address employee concerns, facilitate dispute resolution, and promote employee wellness initiatives.
  • Participate in regular meetings with union leadership to gather feedback, address issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
HR Analytics and Compliance:

  • Utilize HR data and analytics to monitor key talent metrics, trends, and workforce demographics
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, labor laws, and regulations governing unionized workplaces.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership and union representatives on talent management, talent acquisition, and employee relations initiatives.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement in HR programs and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures related to talent management and talent acquisition.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in talent management, talent acquisition, and HR technology, and make recommendations for enhancements as needed.

Position Qualifications
Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years human resources experience with at least three years HR management experience required .
  • Prior healthcare HR experience and labor relations experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of talent management principles, including workforce planning, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing recruitment strategies to attract top talent in a competitive market.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required
  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field strongly preferred
Preferred Certification/Licensure
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR preferred
