We're hunting for a Director, Assistant General Counsel, Healthcare, someone who's ready to be part of the best ranked children's hospital in Texas, and among the best in the nation. In this position, you will provide oversight and management of the Legal Operations - Healthcare Department. Provide legal counsel and guidance in the operations of the Hospital and affiliated entities. Advise executives, management, committees and medical staff in areas of legal and regulatory concern. Select and retain outside counsel, as appropriate, to represent hospital in legal matters. Actively participate in hospital and medical staff committee assignments. Provide legal counsel relating to contractual agreements entered into by hospital entities. Serve as legal resource to risk manager on-call. This role reports up through the Office of the General Counsel.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Provide legal counsel to executives, management, committees and medical staff. Collaborate with executives and management in efforts to ensure hospital operations comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
Provide oversight, direction and support of the Legal Department. Manage day-to-day operations of the department.
Evaluate, on an ongoing basis, the legal needs of hospitals and recommend, as appropriate, adjustments to departmental staffing and/or structure.
Provide legal counsel relating to contracts entered into by the hospital. Ensure agreements entered into adequately protect hospital interests.
Manage, as appropriate, litigation involving hospital entities. Ensure coordination between the Legal Department and Risk Management Department in any litigation managed within the Legal Department.

Skills & Requirements
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree Required
LAW - TX - Law License - Texas License to practice law in the State of Texas is required. If a candidate does not have a Texas law license, must have and maintain a license to practice law in another state and get licensed in the State of Texas within 18 months of hire required.
7 years legal experience and 5 years' experience working with or for a health care organization required
