Job Summary: The Director of Equity and Title IX will oversee the institution's efforts to prevent and address discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. This role involves managing investigations, providing training and education, and ensuring compliance with federal and state laws. The Director will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to promote an equitable campus environment.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field (e.g., law, public administration, higher education administration, human resources or a related field.)
- At least five (5) years of experience in civil rights compliance, Title IX administration, employee relations, student affairs, HR investigations, or a related field.
- Experience conducting investigations into discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, or other civil rights matters ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
- Experience interpreting and applying civil rights laws and regulations such as Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADA, VAWA, and the Clery Act.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school or additional years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a higher education setting, particularly in compliance, student affairs, or legal administration.
- Supervisory or leadership experience managing staff, overseeing investigations, or leading compliance initiatives.
- Nationally recognized certification or training in Title IX, civil rights investigations, or compliance (e.g., NACUA, ATIXA, or equivalent certification).
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance related to compliance with nondiscrimination and civil rights laws, including but not limited to Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, VAWA, and the Clery Act.
- Knowledge of best practices and methodologies for investigations, evidence analysis, trauma-informed interviewing, adjudication, and resolution of civil rights violations.
- Knowledge of administrative practices in higher education
- Knowledge of conflict resolution methodologies and techniques.
- Proficiency in conducting investigations, including fact-finding, interviewing, and analyzing evidence.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for evaluating findings, compliance issues, and policy applications.
- Proficiency in drafting reports, policies, and written communications related to compliance and civil rights matters.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external agencies.
- Experience overseeing and administering training programs relating to civil rights issues in higher education.
- Proficiency in conflict resolution and negotiation techniques to address complex disputes and compliance-related concerns.
- Experience managing personnel, budgets, and office operations to ensure efficient and effective program administration.
- Proficiency in using technology and case management systems to track investigations, incident trends, compliance efforts, and training programs.
- Interpret, analyze, and apply complex laws, regulations, and guidance documents to assess their impact on university policies and procedures.
- Select, develop, implement, and maintain tools for managing, tracking, documenting, and assessing, reports and compliance-related processes, projects, and programs.
- Effectively communicate complex legal, policy, and compliance-related information to diverse constituencies within a university environment.
- Consult with and advise senior leaders and decision-makers on civil rights compliance, investigations, and policy development.
- Develop and present effective training programs for large and small groups across all constituencies, including in-person and web-based formats.
