Purpose of the Position:
The AMSTI Director supervises on-site support, educator professional learning, and materials to schools by mentoring, coaching, training, and assisting AMSTI Specialists, teachers, and administrators. The Director will manage the AMSTI staff and overall operations of the AMSTI site to serve schools in Alabama Inservice Region 3. Foster collaboration with other departments/divisions within the IHE; Navigating the internal structure of the IHE, as needed; Ensure compliance with the financial and administrative policies and regulations
associated with the award; Attend all AMSTI-ALSDE leadership meetings; Track site performance on Monday.com; and Fulfill additional responsibilities on a routine basis.
Duties/Responsibilities
Oversee manage and coordinate the effective day-to-day operations and activities of the AMSTI Site.
Directly supervise, monitor performance, and provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities for AMSTI staff employees support personnel, and the materials/refurbishment center. ( This includes the supervision of ASIM staff in coordination with the AMSTI-ASIM PI).
Oversee and manage departmental budget for site activities, and monitor the organizational work operating system and AMSTI Inventory Management System (AIMS).
Oversee the operations of materials distribution. Mentor Materials Center staff, and monitor driving routes, deliveries, and materials refurbishment.
Pursue grants, manage grant invoices, and prepare and manage proposals and other forms of funding to support various programs, projects, and activities that support the mission of AMSTI.
Participate in AMSTI and/or AMSTI-ASIM workgroups, and perform other duties assigned by AMSTI-ALSDE.
Manage, communicate, and work in close collaboration with AMSTI-ALSDE, other AMSTI Sites, Regional Inservice Centers, IHEs, Office of Mathematics Improvement and other ALSDE regional departments/leaders, science centers/museums, AMSTI Affiliates, and other related entities in implementing AMSTI.
Mentor coach and train and assist with AMSTI and ASIM specialists.
Create, develop, and prepare assigned reports.
Communicate and collaborate with administrators and LEAS to provide data-driven guidance and support.
Plan, organize, and oversee ongoing educator professional learning from the AMSTI Menu of Services that includes instructional and resource components as defined and identified by AMSTI-ALSDE (CEUs and PLUs).
Manage, coordinate, and supervise ongoing mentoring content-deepening and pedagogical programming, and professional learning opportunities for current and potential specialists and trainers.
Oversee and coordinate Teacher training during the fiscal year.
Lead and facilitate staff meetings as required by the ALSDE, and participate in professional learning activities.
Foster positive public relations with local school systems, businesses, and communities.
Arrange and supervise publicity and media releases showcasing regional AMSTI and AMSTI-ASIM events, including social media, according to PR requirements.
Supervise the maintenance of records and ensure required paperwork is submitted in a timely manner:
Administrator, teacher, and staff professional learning AMSTI Certifications.
Daily itineraries of staff, including AMSTI-ASIM.
Evaluations of specialists to foster professional growth, including AMSTI-ASIM
Evaluations of Foundational Training and other staff development activities to
assess the effectiveness of the Initiative, including AMSTI-ASIM.
Activities with businesses and higher education.
Financial operations and documentation as required by the ALSDE and the
institution associated with the site.
Other documentation required by the ALSDE, local institution, and/or the funding source, including AMSTI-ASIM.
Minimum Requirements:
Master's degree and Class A teaching certificate
9 or more years of full-time related work experience
Must have proficient computer skills and be proficient in Google Suite
Must have Professional Development facilitation experience
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have a valid driver's license
Some travel is required
Desired Qualifications:
Personnel and Budget Management experience is preferred
Educational leadership experience is desired
Experience teaching and presenting AMSTI methods and materials is preferred
