The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a Director of Applications Development to join our Information Technology division. We're looking for a strong leader who values collaboration and staying up to date with the latest technology in higher education. Examples of Duties
In this position you will direct a diverse team of application developers and work closely with the Director of Business Technology and the Project Managers/Business Analysts to ensure system-wide projects are staffed according to priority and required skills to resolve project related issues. Your team supports the IT Directors and staff at all 13 colleges and will provide the SSO services and Student AD, CAS/Portal, and Office 365 Accounts creation and management. The application development team also supports the Portal Admins and College portals (Ellucian Experience) at all 13 colleges. You and your team also work closely with the Chief Technology Officer and the Infrastructure team to ensure technology currency and meet security requirements. The application development team supports in-house applications used by Colorado Online and the Rural College Consortium.

Duties Include:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Portal, Banner, and Web Application Development product/service line function, including the oversight and management of specific projects, staff, and deliverables. Drive the collaboration with relevant IT departments either contributing to or impacted by current services and projects.
- Participate as a member of the System IT Leadership Team. Work closely and collaboratively with the other key members including the Chief Technology Officer, Director of Business Technology, and Director of Institutional Research/Business Intelligence.
- Guide, mentor, coach, and support Development team members.
- Plan, direct, track, and manage progress, resolve issues, and manage changes in current services and projects for the application development team. Provide oversight review and evaluation of project work that is performed by application developers.
- Provide after hours on-call support for critical development and application issues.
- In conjunction with Business Technology staff, consult with clients in assessing and framing their requests for technical support and projects, and in defining business and functional requirements of application development projects.
- Assume a leadership role in the testing and installation of development programs. Design, develop, and implement application enhancements while ensuring adherence to detailed programming procedures and change controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an information technology field from an accredited college or university. Relevant education and experience in the appropriate technical areas may substitute year for year for the required degree.
- Five years of experience with implementing, managing, and supporting complex software solutions that included experience with Software Development Life Cycle(s) and various methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, XP) of project management. Experience must also include leading technical teams and making strategic planning decisions about services, applications, and infrastructure.

Work Location/Travel Expectations:

- Occasional in-state travel, along with an annual out-of-state conference attendance, is required.
- CCCS-IT supports a 24x7 environment. Evening and weekend work may be required.
