Description:
The Director of Benefits will be responsible for setting the strategy related to the Company's benefit plans including both health and welfare and retirement plans along with various related programs such as time-off, leaves and employee wellness. The position will ensure the efficient administration of benefit programs via the management of internal staff and external vendors. The position will have responsibility for ensuring that programs meet all regulatory requirements. Finally, the position will serve as a leader within the Total Rewards group and broader HR function and will be responsible for fostering collaboration and developing talent.

This role will interact with all levels of the organization. The role will be required to present to Sr. Leadership to gain approval for the strategic direction of the benefits function. Additionally, the position will need partner with areas such as legal, communications, and finance to ensure compliance and financial effectiveness. Finally, the position may be called upon to present to the broader corporation as it relates to program changes.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $166,184.00 - $224,839.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop strategies related to Company benefit programs taking into account company business objectives, market trends, regulatory landscape, and financial requirements.
- Select and manage vendors taking into account cost effectiveness, geographic complexities and performance standards.
- Develop mechanisms for soliciting employee feedback in order to assess program performance and inform future program design.
- In partnership with outside vendors and internal finance team, conduct periodic cost analysis in order to identify trends that will inform future plan designs and ensure accurate cost accruals.
- Develop and implement communication strategies and material that will facilitate the effective utilization of programs and illustrate program value.
- Partner with internal and external resources to ensure that programs meet all regulatory requirements. This includes required plan testing, regulatory filings and participant communications.
- Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required:
- 10 years of experience designing, implementing and managing employee benefit programs.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, finance or related field.
- Knowledge of accounting and actuarial principles associated with managing, designing and administering benefit programs.
- Strong knowledge of benefit compliance requirements.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with areas outside of human resources.
- Experience managing and developing teams made up of technical experts.
Preferred:
- Experience managing defined benefit retirement programs and retiree medical programs.
- Experience managing benefits across various employee types including statutory workforce.
- Experience working in a Product Operating Model environment.
