Under general guidance of the Deputy Director, serves as the Director for the Bureau of Hospitals, Community Services & Emergency Management.
Responsible for the oversight of activities in the Bureau of Hospitals, Community Services and Emergency Management (HCSEM), which includes Emergency Medical Services, Hospitals/Professionals, and Community Services Sections. Plans, develops, and directs activities in the Bureau to ensure that the financial, organizational, and operational functions are carried out effectively and efficiently. Supervises, provides direction, and guidance to the Section Directors within the Bureau. Serves on the Healthcare Quality Leadership Team.
Assists and collaborates with other Bureaus and Sections within Healthcare Quality in the overall planning and promotion of accessible, high quality healthcare facilities, and services throughout the State. Serves as the expert for activities involving the bureau and provides assistance, advice, and consultation as it relates to the bureau. Participates in professional organizations as the bureau's representative. Oversees emergency preparedness activities for the deputy area. Performs other duties as necessary, including but not limited to: participates in training of new employees, and preparing/presenting for hearings and trials.
Participates in disaster preparedness and response, and is designated an essential employee, subject to duty and/or call on a 24-hour basis during an emergency. Supports other sections within the Deputy area as necessary.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and relevant program management experience.
Knowledge of an agency's mission, programs, and objectives. Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations. Management and supervisory skills. Ability to make presentations and prepare reports. Must have good analytical and judgement skills; extensive organizational skills; good oral and written communication skills; effective interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be proficiently experienced in using applicable computer software programs as well as having a basic understanding of database systems situations. Must possess a valid SC driver's license.
