The Maryland Food Bank (MFB) is a nonprofit hunger-relief organization dedicated to feeding people, strengthening communities, and ending hunger for more Marylanders by partnering with local organizations from the western mountains to the Eastern Shore. The food bank's statewide network of food assistance brings enough resources together to provide nearly 114,000 meals every day (more than 41 million meals annually) to hungry children, seniors, veterans, and hard-working families, meeting the immediate needs of hungry Marylanders while simultaneously working to create pathways out of hunger.

Overview:
The Director of Case Management and Workforce Development is an integral part of the FoodWorks program, managing direct services and support provided to students, and supervising case management-workforce development services at our FoodWorks training locations in our Baltimore and Salisbury Eastern Shore facilities

Maryland Food Bank's FoodWorks Culinary Training Program offers 12 weeks of intensive culinary training combined with individual support, career development, and job placement assistance, helping students transform themselves into professional chefs, ready to succeed in the hospitality industry. Overview:

Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with case management and workforce development for program applicants, students, and alumni in Baltimore and Eastern Shore regions
- Administer distribution of student benefits like bus passes/gas cards, living stipends, and hygiene products
- Create resource directory; connect community to legal, health, mental services; collaborate with local partners
- Lead team's advocacy efforts to prospective students, enrolled students, and alumni with internal team as well as external partners
- Identify and provide emergency crisis interventions and services as warranted
- Connect trainees with housing, childcare, mental health, insurance, legal aid, and necessities
- Evaluate student feedback at midterm and end-of-term; share feedback with management, incorporating it into program improvements
- Enhance FoodWorks program by contributing to curriculum, planning, budgeting, and department collaboration at MFB
- Supervise Case Management and Workforce Development Specialists, including onboarding, training, task delegation, performance evaluations, and providing guidance on program strategy and direction
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services or equivalent experience
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years providing case management and workforce development support to individuals facing barriers like systemic racism, trauma, poverty, substance addiction, criminal history, and more
- Ability to lead and motivate teams to be performance-driven and successful
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience that involves hiring, training, coaching, evaluating performance and empowering direct reports
- Familiarity with social service programs and providers across Maryland Food Bank's statewide service territory of 21 counties and Baltimore City
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PPT) as well as other technology programs, including Zoom and Teams
- Strong verbal & written skills, summarize complex information effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience collaborating with referral partners and expanding referral partner network
- Commitment to fostering a work environment and program of services that are student-centered, culturally responsive, and equitable
- Experience in fostering a welcoming and respectful classroom learning environment
- Demonstrated experience in a role working with internal and external stakeholders
- Familiarity with social service programs and providers across Maryland Food Bank's statewide service territory of 21 counties and Baltimore city
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position will supervise the FoodWorks Case Manager and Case Manager Specialist, as well as the FoodWorks Workforce Development Manager and Workforce Development Specialist working in our Baltimore and Salisbury Eastern Shore locations

Salary range:
- $80,000 - $85,000
Work environment:
- This job operates in both a professional office environment and commercial kitchen where both noise and temperatures will fluctuate.
- This role supports programming at both our main location in Baltimore as well as our satellite location on the Eastern Shore. Travel between the regions is required
