Under general direction of and reporting to the Vice Provost and Dean for Undergraduate Education, the Director of the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) is a key leadership position in the Office of Undergraduate Education and UC Davis. The Director provides vision and creative leadership within CEE and across the university to enhance teaching and learning in the context of the mission and strategic plan at UC Davis. The Director leads CEE in its efforts to enhance equitable and inclusive learning and teaching across the university through an innovative range of initiatives at the intersections of instruction, assessment, educational analytics, and educational technologies for faculty, graduate student instructors, and other instructional roles. This portfolio encompasses programs and services that include educational/faculty development, course/curricular design, effective uses of learning analytics to improve student learning and instruction, implementation of educational research on pedagogy and learning, academic program review assessment support, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Located in the Office of Undergraduate Education, The Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) works collaboratively and creatively with instructors and campus partners to foster, build, implement, and institutionalize evidence-based and equitable instructional practices. CEE provides leadership on instructional and assessment practices by integrating educational analytics for the advancement of inclusive and innovative teaching and learning at UC Davis in alignment with campus strategic plans and objectives.

- Master's degree, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills in the areas of learning and teaching support were acquired and applied to the improvement of established and emergent issues in undergraduate education across Humanities, Social Science and/or STEM fields.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience leading educational/faculty development organizations/units (e.g., center for teaching and learning) in a research-intensive university setting.
- Experience managing or supervising educational and student (graduate/undergraduate) staff.
- Experience defining strategic directions, setting priorities, and overseeing the implementation of new initiatives and educational development programs.
- Experience to actively pursue partnerships and work in close collaboration with a range of on- and off-campus.
- Excellent analytical, written, interpersonal, communication, consultation and presentation skills.
- Personal or professional commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion as demonstrated by persistent effort, active planning, allocation of resources and/or accountability for diversity outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Education, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills in the areas of learning and teaching support were acquired and applied to the improvement of established and emergent issues in undergraduate education across Humanities, Social Science and/or STEM fields.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience leading educational/faculty development organizations/units (e.g., center for teaching and learning) at a research-intensive university setting.
- Higher education teaching experience that reflects research-informed, accessible, and inclusive pedagogical and curricular practices.
- A strong publication and scholarly record.
- Demonstrated leadership in DEIA (diversity, equity, inclusion, access) as a manager and campus leader. Applying concepts of DEIA across all areas of work and responsibility.
- Skills to monitor trends in higher education and identify instructional practices appropriate for adoption.
- Knowledge and understanding of university organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures, and experience working in a higher education environment.
