Temp-to-Hire Position - Client is seeking perm after 13 week contract.
Candidate should expect multiple layers of interviews, to include on-site interviews - could take 2-3 weeks for interview process.
EXPERIENCE:
Director Level position - Must have at least 7 years of current experience working in a Central Processing Sterilization or Operating Room environment. Experience with leading leaders, and delegating to leaders and staff.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Must have or obtain within 90 days of hire a certification as a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) by the International Association for Central Sterile Healthcare Materiel Management (IAHCSMM), or, as a Central Sterile Professional Department Technician (CSPDT) by the American Society of Healthcare Central Sterile Professionals (ASHCSP). Certification as a Certified in Healthcare Leadership (CHL) supervisor/ manager is a plus. Certifications need to be maintained by obtaining the required CEU's each year through the certifying agency.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Central Processing Director maintains oversight of sterilization and high level disinfection practices occurring within the CPD department and satellite reprocessing locations. Serves as the subject matter expert in sterilization/high level disinfection, guiding the Medical Center to ensure all processes are compliant with State, Federal, JCAHO, AAMI, AORN, CDC and CMS laws or/or regulations. The Director works with area managers to assess sterilization and high level disinfection needs on a per unit basis. The Director will provide sterilization materials, machinery (if necessary), and staff to perform the processes. The Director is responsible for providing leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental philosophy and goals. The Director prepares yearly capital, expense, and personnel budgets for the central processing department and satellite reprocessing locations.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Thorough knowledge of decontamination and sterilization and high level disinfection techniques and procedures, infection control and work flow principles and requirements, and equipment and supply inventory protocols.
Complete knowledge of clinical operations, hospital mission and goals and human resources policies and procedures.
Advanced English oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, including ability to multi-task, delegate appropriately and meet deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide direction and development to employees by coaching, identifying training needs, assigning progressively challenging projects, and assisting in career development planning.
Ability to analyze and solve problems in a systematic, logical, and timely manner.

Develops personal knowledge of unit-specific technology platforms (Cencitrac, Kronos, One Source, Torq).
Basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to enter and access data/information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and web browsers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Human Resource Management: Accountable for the coordination and evaluation of unit personnel in accordance with hospital and Nursing Division personnel policies.
Functions as positive role model for staff by adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Interviews, hires, disciplines, and terminates employees.
Oversees the structured orientation program for all new personnel. Reviews the completed checklist with employee, educator and preceptor to ensure the employee is competent prior to independent practice.
Completes ongoing evaluation during the probationary period. Discusses strengths and weaknesses with employee. Confers with Human Resources in instances when probationary period may need extension.
Maintains any records of discussions held during counseling sessions. Documents any warnings given, whether oral or written. Forwards documentation to Labor Relations and/or Human Resources.
Demonstrates creativity in problem solving. Demonstrates initiative and self-motivation to follow through on all responsibilities in a timely manner.
Utilizes available resources, is responsible for assessment, planning, development and implementation of programs designed to enhance the professional development of the staff.
Maintains current personnel records and documentation related to professional and clinical practice of the staff.
Routinely evaluates and reviews staff performance and discusses and documents individual performance annually. Discusses and establishes improvements and/or goals for the coming year.
Executes established payroll procedures, including time and payroll adjustments utilizing union contract principles and Kronos timekeeping system. Resolves employee payroll issues.
Utilizes effective communication and is, available and accessible to staff to ensure efficient and effective operations of the department. Assists in the development of subordinates through training and delegation.
Delegates authority and accountability to facilitate decentralized management.
Promotes the growth and development of supervisors' leadership skills through delegation of specific tasks and projects.
Accountable for unit staffing levels, staff schedules, and utilization of Kronos and union principles to ensure efficient CPD throughput
Upholds all elements of workforce needs pursuant to current Union Contract.
Creates and maintains a unit leadership coverage plan.
Central Processing Flow Management:
Accountable for the coordination and evaluation of the practices for the Central Processing in accordance with the Boston Medical Center Policies/Procedures, AAMI, JCAHO and AORN recommendations and standards.
Assesses the flow of patient/surgeon case needs for the Boston Medical Center Central Processing Department to meet the daily patient/surgeon case needs. Also assess the flow and meets the needs of the satellite reprocessing locations.
Holds staff accountable for the implementation of standards to comply with regulatory agency requirements, policies/procedures.
On an ongoing basis, monitors and evaluates the overall department Documentation review
Assessing practice
Monitoring staff activities on the unit
Implementation and revisions of standards, including IFUs, as appropriate
Acts as the subject matter expert in Infection Control, sterilization standards and standards of practice for decontamination, reprocessing and sterilization functions.
Oversees a process to provide training and documentation of annual competency in areas of high level disinfection.
Maintains effective communication method for disseminating information ng( new policies and procedures etc).to the leadership team and employees
Establishes and maintains effective lines of communication with other disciplines, ancillary personnel and physicians.
Compiles and reports all required QA/QC processes for Boston Medical Center-assigned areas of responsibility and presents at the Infection Control meeting and other meetings as requested.
Complies with JCAHO, AAMI, AORN, CDC, OSHA agency recommendations and standards for practice.
Supervision of CPD inventory including instrumentation and physical plant, along with processes for repair, reordering, organization, and storage.
