Job Overview:

Reporting to the VP of Strata Management, the Director of Client Risk Management will educate and support the Strata Councils in their procurement of their required insurance policies, gathering required information, implement risk mitigation strategies, and increase awareness of insurance products, coverage, and strata council obligations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish claims reporting, risk mitigation strategies, and client responsibilities in line with industry best practices.
  • Develop a risk management program to manage and reduce potential costs, including training sessions on general and emergency maintenance for strata owners.
  • Educate strata council members and residents on risk management, loss control, and claim administration, addressing factors like earthquake risk and material hazards that impact premiums.
  • Communicate details about insurance placement to improve council understanding of insurance terms and conditions.
  • Supervise the risk management team, overseeing daily tasks, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team and Directors to regularly assess and improve risk management efforts.
  • Coordinate the appraisal process for strata clients to ensure accurate insurance assessments.
  • Manage the strata insurance procurement and renewal process, including buildings transitioning to management and new construction, ensuring timely delivery to councils.
  • Review strata renewal policy proposals from brokers to provide coverage and premium comparisons for strata councils.
  • Act as the relationship manager between strata councils, managers, and insurance brokers, supporting the renewal process with attendance at Board Meetings and AGMs as needed, often after-hours, while fostering a client-focused culture of integrity and competence.


Skills & Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate will bring at least 3 years Strata industry experience and/or strata insurance and some experience managing a small team,
  • They will demonstrate a customer service mindset that encompasses superior written and oral communication skills. They will be highly efficient, organized and skilled at time management and IT tools (particularly MS Office), enabling them to succeed in a high volume, high pace environment where the ability to balance completing priorities is critical.
  • A Representative License to provide strata management Services (as issued by the Real Estate Council of British Columbia), or ability to obtain license within 3 months of employment, a valid BC driver's license and automobile with business insurance are requirements of the role.
  • This position will require work outside regular business hours, weekends or holidays.


What We Offer:

Compensation:

$80,000 - $100,000 per year as well as a monthly vehicle and phone allowance.
