About the Job

The Director, Clinical Transactions is a key member of the Clinical Business Unit. This role is responsible for the overall transaction and contract strategy with Clinical customers, from development to execution. This role works cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to provide leadership in shaping new opportunities as well as scaling contract capabilities across the Business Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage overall strategy for Clinical Business Unit customer transactions and contracts for Clinical customers in a matrixed environment.
  • Serve as internal/external subject matter expert on Clinical account contracting.
  • Lead the development and delivery of guidance that can support value creation and deal processes that streamline and expedite time from opportunity to contract execution. Work closely with Legal/Compliance and other teams to develop deal templates that can be leveraged by account leads teams.
  • Partner with account leads in complex negotiations for high-value contracts with external parties.
  • Continuously assess and optimize contract management processes, systems and tools. Develop and implement efficient workflows to streamline opportunity assessment, deal creation and contract negotiation to execution.
  • Collaborate with finance and account leads to support financial and ROI analysis of opportunities throughout opportunity cycle.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on status of contract portfolio, risks and opportunities.
  • In partnership with internal teams, ensure compliance with contracts through establishing systems for monitoring and adherence.
  • Create and deliver training materials for internal teams on contract best practices, in collaboration with Legal/Compliance and Training teams.
  • Maintain availability to work outside of a regularly scheduled shift.
  • Travel domestically up to 20% of the time.
  • Lead/support other projects as periodically assigned.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical, diagnostics, healthcare, research products or similar industry environment.
  • 5+ years of experience contributing to the development and negotiation of contract terms.
  • 5+ years of oncology experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or other advanced (Master's+) degree in business or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative from strategic planning to execution and implementation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Significant experience partnering with account leads and customers on partnership creation, contract negotiation and deal execution.
  • Experience team selling or cross-functional selling in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of strategic development, innovation, and successful implementation
  • of effective business solutions within defined customer set(s)
  • Experience working in dynamic and growing teams; demonstrated ability to operate and deliver in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. clinical oncology diagnostics market.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functionally without direct authority.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical thinking.
  • Demonstrated planning/organizational skills; ability to plan for both the long and short term; ability to work on many issues at once and to prioritize work.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of privacy of patient data.
