  • Position Summary
    • Responsible for the administrative and clinical lead for St. Mary's Health Center and Good Samaritan, the 2 free clinics operated by SJ/C serve the uninsured. This position provides a dual role of clinical lead for nurse practitioners and administrative lead for the clinics. The time split between administrative duties and patient care is approximately 70%/30%, respectively. This person works collaboratively with the Director of Community Centers and reports to the Vice President of Mission Services.
  • Education
    • Masters of Nursing - Required
  • Experience
    • 3 - 5 Years in clinic or private practice - Preferred
    • 3 - 5 Years of supervisory/managerial experience - Preferred
  • License & Certification
    • Professional License with State of Practice - Preferred
    • AAdvance Practice - NP - Required
  • Core Job Functions
    • Insure department is compliant with all policies affecting them. Inform staff of matters affecting them. Assure staff are able to communicate concerns freely. Review daily staff workload to achieve acceptable quality standards.
    • Direct oversight of St. Mary's Health Center and Good Samaritan in the delivery of services to under and uninsured patients.
    • Prepare and monitor department budgets. Responsible for coordinating department maintenance and safety practices.
    • Hire, counsel, promote and discipline staff using system guidelines. Assures employee orientation, in-service education program and outside conferences are completed. Writes appraisals and competencies in a fair and timely manner.
    • Provides primary care Nurse Practitioner coverage when staff are on out of office or as needed.
    • Using Cost-efficiency strategies; order labs, imaging, diagnostic and medicines appropriately with focus on first step of action. Send prescriptions and refills in a timely manner.
    • Review results of orders in a timely manner and use results to plan care. Instruct patients on results, plan of care and outcome expectations.
    • Use thorough investigation and research techniques to request specialists. Provide referral with all tests, action taken to diagnose and questions regarding irregular outcomes. Willingness to comanage with specialists.
