ROLE PURPOSE

As a true business partner to both the President of North America and the V.P. Global Business Finance & FP&A, the Director, Commercial Finance North America will assess organizational performance against best practice benchmarks, develop the annual budget and forecasts and the long-term strategy. In liaison with the V.P Global Business Finance & FP&A (and the broader Group finance initiatives) develop tools and systems to provide critical financial visibility to the respective management teams and make actionable recommendations.

Strategic Role Responsibilities
  • Be a leader, owning best in class Finance processes and be a proactive supporter of change towards best practice standards. This includes full ownership of the North America Commercial P&L.
  • Strategically support commercial management in the integration of market dynamics, customer needs, competitive strengths, and weaknesses into a sound strategic plan. Ensuring the financial output reflects the key dynamics and timelines.
  • Own the Sales Compensation commission strategy & planning for North America Sales with management and financial oversight of the team.
  • Own and maintain pricing strategy for all North America Commercial activities
  • Includes supervision of 2-6 individual contributors and managers.


Operational Role Responsibilities
  • Assess the organizational performance of the NA commercial business versus best practice benchmarks and targets. Identify any performance issues and in liaison with local management present and implement plans for remedial action.
  • Support the commercial operations and finance with business decision support.
  • Provide critical financial visibility to the North America commercial management teams and make actionable recommendations
  • Oversee the budgeting and forecasting processes and the implementation of budgets / forecasts to monitor progress and present financial metrics.
  • Assist in the financial close process, work with members of the accounting team to ensure accuracy and understand financial results.
  • Manage the Sales commission process
    • Partner with Sales, HR and Legal teams to design, implement and optimize sales incentive plans that drive business objectives.
    • Develop and maintain financial models to analyze sales performance, commission structures and ROI on compensation plans
    • Drive continuous improvement in commission tracking, automation and financial reporting


  • Display willingness to take on new responsibilities and assist in ad-hoc projects as required.
  • Monitor and ensure both compliance with and documentation of compliance with Cynosure's policies and procedures as outlined in various Company policies, including the Global Approval Authority Matrix and other relevant mandatory policies.


People & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the team. Provide guidance and leadership to the team by creating goals and development plans for teams as well as fostering strong communication and team motivation skills
  • Maintain clear accountability for delivering upon commitments.
  • Support the Commercial Head of North America and V.P. Global Business Finance and FP&A in the execution of people development plans.
  • Support the V.P. Global Business Finance and FP&A in building a forward-looking Finance organization by actively participating as a senior member of the Business Finance team.


FUNCTIONAL EXPERTISE
  • 10+ years post qualification experience
