As the Director of Commercial Strategy and Analytics, you will lead the development and execution of strategies to drive revenue growth and profitability for the Hudson Yards Experiences portfolio. This role requires a dynamic leader who excels in leveraging data-driven insights, optimizing pricing and packaging, and driving innovation to enhance overall business performance. This role will be key in fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making by spearheading the development of comprehensive analytics insights and capabilities within the team. A successful Director combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership to deliver impactful results.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Commercial Strategy: Develop and implement commercial strategies to enhance revenue, profitability, and market share for Edge, City Climb, and Vessel. Align strategies across all revenue streams, including ticketing, photo, retail, F&B, and events.
- Market Positioning: Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and visitor behavior to refine offerings and capture growth opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with marketing, operations, finance, and sales teams to ensure commercial initiatives align with broader business objectives. Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation to drive revenue growth.
Pricing and Packaging
- Inventory and Pricing Optimization: Design and oversee inventory and pricing strategies, including dynamic pricing models, to maximize profitability and competitiveness.
- Bundling and Partnerships: Lead the development of packaging options and partnerships that enhance value for guests while driving upsell opportunities.
Data and Analytics
- Data Warehouse Development: Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a scalable data warehouse to consolidate and manage data from various business streams.
- Data Visualization and Dashboards: Build and maintain real-time dashboards and reporting systems to communicate performance metrics and insights effectively to stakeholders.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Define key performance indicators to monitor revenue performance. Provide regular reports and updates to senior leadership, tracking progress against revenue targets and identifying areas for improvement.
- Actionable Insights: Utilize advanced analytics to extract meaningful insights from visitor behavior, transaction data, and market trends. Leverage insights in commercial growth strategies.
- Testing and Optimization: Develop and execute data-driven experiments to continually refine pricing, inventory management, and product offerings.
Systems and Technology
- Systems strategy: Collaborate with IT to build a flexible and scalable systems strategy to enable cross-functional analytics, reporting, and insights.
Leadership and Team Development
- Team Management: Manage and mentor a small team of revenue and analytics professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations and achievement of goals.
- Internal Advisor: Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations to guide decision-making.
Compensation
- $150,000 - $180,000 annually
- Annual performance-based bonus
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in revenue management, pricing optimization, or related roles within the attractions, entertainment, or hospitality industry.
- A deep understanding of the attractions, entertainment, or hospitality industry, including market trends, competitive landscape, and visitor behavior.
- Experience with managing ticketing systems, data systems (e.g., Azure, AWS, SRSS), data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL)
- The ability to think strategically and translate high-level objectives into actionable strategies and initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to identify revenue optimization opportunities, address challenges, and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and data-driven insights to various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and inspire team members, foster a collaborative work environment, and drive results.
- Flexibility and adaptability to navigate a fast-paced and dynamic environment, respond to changing priorities, and seize opportunities for innovation and growth.
- Advanced analytical skills to interpret complex data sets, derive actionable insights, and make data-driven decisions to optimize revenue performance.
- Track record of delivering measurable results and achieving revenue targets, with a focus on driving continuous improvement and maximizing financial performance.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint required.
