JOB OVERVIEW

Canadian Cancer Society's Corporate Partnerships team has the privilege of ensuring the flawless onboarding, management and execution of partnerships with select fortune 500 companies in Canada. Partnering with top corporations who share Canadian Cancer Society's vision to champion world leading outcomes in cancer prevention, treatment and support through sponsorships, cause marketing, employee engagement and corporate philanthropy is the focus of this revenue generating department.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships, the Director, Corporate Partnerships, Western Region is a unique role that provides the opportunity to (1) identify, prospect, solicit and negotiate revenue-driving partnership opportunities and gifts including events in the Western Region, (2) maintain, steward and grow a diverse corporate partner portfolio, and (3) mentor and coach a minimum of one direct report.

The successful candidate is a builder and sustainer of relationships who welcomes opportunities for the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) to expand and grow its corporate revenue base in the Western Region. With seasoned knowledge of the corporate world and an understanding of large revenue-driving events, the Director, Corporate Partnerships, Western Region will collaborate with teams across the country to build new opportunities in the Western Region, enhance current operations and develop innovative strategies to help mobilize our internal and external communities in ways that are accessible, engaging and effective.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

1. Lead Corporate Partnerships New Business Development in Western Region
  • Develop and execute a corporate partnerships strategy for the Western Region in collaboration with the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships and VP, Partnerships, aligning efforts with revenue growth goals and mission alignment.
  • Lead new business targets in the Western Region through active prospecting of corporate partners who share CCS's vision and support its mission.
  • Identify, solicit and secure net new revenue support of the annual BC Daffodil Ball through table sales and sponsorship packages in collaboration with the Senior Manager, New Business Development, Corporate Partnerships and the Leadership Giving team.
  • Actively review current partners in the Westen Region portfolio to identify "new channel" opportunities and bring forward recommendations and strategies to Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships.
  • Create and deliver compelling presentations, proposals and stewardship reports, ensuring partners and prospective partners receive clear insights on the measurable impact of their contributions, with a focus on achieving the partners KPIs and demonstrating mutual value.
  • Ensure all new revenue development is accurately tracked in Salesforce and moves management stages and key contacts are updated in real time.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage internal networks and enhance overall business development efforts.
  • Proactively engage in networking activities to expand professional connections and cultivate relationships that contribute to the growth of the revenue pipeline.
  • Provide regular reports on networking activities, highlighting key connections made and their potential impact on revenue growth.
  • Proactively gather and integrate feedback from networking interactions to refine revenue strategies and adapt to evolving market dynamics.
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, and trade shows to maximize networking opportunities and stay abreast of market developments.


2. Revenue and Relationship Management
  • Inspire increased commitments from corporate partners through flawless relationship management, extensive partner knowledge and the proactive sharing of meaningful CCS updates and opportunities.
  • Cultivate and steward current supporters of the annual BC Daffodil Ball to ensure best-in-class experience and renewals including growth opportunities in collaboration with Corporate Partnerships Relationship Managers and the Leadership Giving team.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships, contributes to the development, effective implementation and execution of partner growth strategies to achieve assigned revenue targets.
  • Engage, inspire and grow the value of current corporate partnerships:
  • Execution of existing corporate partnerships/relationships
  • Re-signing and/or assisting in the re-signing of contracts and increase engagement of existing partners
  • Support implementation of select large partnerships
  • Ensure best-in-class onboarding and stewardship for all corporate partners
  • Seamless management and execution of corporate partner programs and events including proactive and regular cultivation and stewardship with key partner relationships.
  • Remain current on industry trends that affect partners in portfolio.


3. Strategic Leadership and Team Development & Engagement
  • Provide strategic direction and supervision to direct report, ensuring coordination and consolidation of effort to maximize success.
  • Create a team environment that drives solution focused behaviour, innovation, and high performance.
  • Ensures team members are supported and following processes; including hosting regular 1:1 weekly check-ins to ensure team members have the time and space to discuss opportunities in their portfolios.
  • Ensures partner growth plans are in place for your and your team's portfolios; including clear KPI monitoring for staff to proactively determine any impacts to revenue targets.
  • Inspires confidence, enthusiasm and high performance in others while providing appropriate recognition; coaches individuals and the team and completes performance review process in line with Team People designated processes and procedures.
  • In conjunction with team people hires, orients, and manages team members, through effective coaching, performance management, recognition and development.
  • Foster a working environment that highlights the talents and strengths of each team member, acknowledging and celebrating successes.
  • Ensure that hiring practices are inclusive.
  • Encourage growth and development opportunities for all team members.

4. Operations, Planning and Financial Management
  • Contributes to the development of an overarching corporate strategy working with leadership to develop.
  • Ensures a robust corporate pipeline and provide timely updates and reporting on activities within the pipeline.
  • Works within the CCS CRM to ensure accurate and appropriate reporting on corporate relationships and pipeline health.
  • Adheres to organizational code of ethics on data governance and confidentiality.
  • Develops and monitors the Western Region corporate programs budget in conjunction with the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships and VP, Partnerships.
  • Reviews revenue reports on a consistent basis throughout the year, ensuring that Western Region revenue targets are being met or exceeded and expenses are reduced where possible. Reports material variances and proposes mitigation strategies.
  • Ensures donor database and donor communications systems are used consistently and effectively.
  • Follows all guidelines established by national leadership including, Marketing, Communications, Digital Support, Finance, Team People, IT and others.


EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field with a minimum seven years of progressive fundraising/business development experience, at least three years of which in a management position.
  • Results oriented with demonstrated success in meeting new business targets in excess of $1M/year.
  • Senior level experience with developing all types of corporate partnerships including cause marketing, sponsorship, employee giving, gift-in-kind as well as corporate philanthropic gifts.
  • Experience in securing revenue from corporations for large-scale events.
  • Excellent planning, marketing and business development skills including strong negotiation abilities
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively.
  • Proven ability to strategically drive team members to meet revenue goals, recognize opportunities for growth, execute moves management and adjust planning to ensure success.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including teambuilding, presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to coach, mentor and inspire team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and analyse budgets and interpret and execute strategic/operational plans.
  • Driven and ambitious with proven ability to set and accomplish goals and objectives, establish priorities with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated success in leading, coaching and mentoring teams with a solutions-focused management style.
  • Proven ability to work simultaneously on a variety of complex projects with tight deadlines while recognizing opportunities for growth, execute moves management and adjust planning to ensure success.
  • Negotiation, problem-solving and diplomacy skills to resolve issues with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to interpret and translate data into actionable strategies and monitor department performance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using CRM systems - Working knowledge of Salesforce is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to travel within Canada - i.e., a valid Driver's License.
  • A flexible schedule which allows for periodic after-hours activations.
