Job Description
Preparation and review of taxes in connection with federal and state income tax compliance, ASC 740, and FIN 48, audit and appeal support and tax planning and structuring.
- Manages the federal and state tax compliance process to ensure accurate and timely filing of income, franchise, and excise tax returns.
- Manages the income tax provision (ASC 740) and (FIN 48) process.
- Provides effective tax rate analysis, internal and external financial reporting, and financial statement disclosures.
- Provides support for income, franchise and sales/use tax audits and assists in developing the Company's position in response to proposed adjustments.
- Reviews tax basis fixed asset classification and depreciation.
- Evaluates and documents capital expenditures for repairs and maintenance.
- Monitors real property assessed values and manages payment of property taxes.
- Interfaces with management and collaborates with other members of the tax team in researching complex tax issues that impact profitability, implementing tax minimization strategies and analyzing new tax legislation.
- Assists with IRS tip compliance negotiations and reporting process.
- Consistently evaluates innovative ways to reduce cash taxes and the Company's effective tax rate.
- Serves as an internal resource to evaluate the impact of new and proposed tax legislation, rulings, regulations, and case law and provides recommendations to senior management.
- Provides support on the tax treatment of potential acquisitions, dispositions, and other significant transactions.
- Provides support in connection with federal and state tax planning and structuring
- Responsible for the management, recruitment, and development of an efficient and effective tax team.
- Maintains, enhances, and documents the provision & compliance processes in coordination with internal audit to ensure compliance with SOX 404.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPA preferred. MBA preferred.
- Seven to Ten (7-10) years of tax related experience in a public company and/or Big 4 public accounting firm required.
- Strong understanding of ASC 740, Accounting for Income Taxes; FIN 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes and SOX 404 process controls.
- Proven ability to interact with federal and state auditors and manage the audit process.
- Strong understanding of federal and state corporate and partnership tax statutes and regulations.
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting in the context of a public company.
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with management, peers, staff, and outside consultants.
- Possess strong MS Word and Excel skills.
- Active CPA License.
- May include jurisdictional gaming licenses.
