Basic Function:
The Director, Creative Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for the creative direction and execution of seasonal channel assets, ensuring alignment with each brand's strategic objectives. This senior-level role manages the art direction and visual merchandising across all brands, fostering consistency, innovation, and excellence in creative execution and visual presentation across digital, print, retail, and corporate projects.
The Director is also responsible for spearheading innovative technology initiatives within the department to streamline creative workflows, enhance asset production efficiency, and drive departmental productivity and effectiveness.
This position leads and manages creative functions, including graphic design, photography studio operations, creative project management, copywriting, corporate projects, and visual merchandising.
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Leads strategic direction for creative execution across digital, print, retail, and corporate channels, ensuring alignment with overarching brand strategies.
2. Acts as primary project manager for all creative requests: leads, oversees, and manages all creative requests via Monday.com, including ticket prioritization, project timelines, and completion according to department specifications.
3. Directs the art direction strategy, maintaining brand consistency while fostering innovation and differentiation among the brands.
4. Oversees development and execution of e-commerce creative assets, UX research, enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
5. Supervises the creative support provided to both retail and wholesale e-commerce teams, ensuring exceptional visual and strategic quality.
6. Provides senior-level leadership to creative, corporate projects, and visual merchandising teams, promoting high performance, collaborative environment, and professional growth.
7. Ensures efficient workflow, resource management, and effective prioritization to meet deadlines and business objectives.
8. Directs visual merchandising initiatives, maintaining brand standards across retail and wholesale channels.
9. Leads the Corporate Projects function, aligning strategic corporate initiatives with creative direction and brand presentation.
10. Champions emerging technologies and innovative tools, incorporating AI-driven design solutions, digital asset management systems, automation, and advanced 3D technology development to enhance team capabilities, creative output, and departmental efficiency.
11. Represents the department in executive-level presentations and strategic planning sessions.
12. Performs other senior management-level duties as required.
Qualifications and Competencies:
1. Requires a BS/BA or related 4-year design degree with an emphasis in graphic / interactive design and 10+ years agency or in-house experience in interactive and print with premium or luxury consumer brands, or equivalent.
2. Requires ability to lead, inspire and manage teams, with proven management experience; Prior experience supervising and managing a team of creative professionals.
3. Proven experience managing, developing and leading creative professionals.
4. Must be proficient in Adobe CS5 Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Dreamweaver; Familiarity with emerging AI-driven creative solutions is preferred.
5. Must possess a clean, modern design sense, as well as the ability to apply that sense during the design problem-solving process.
6. Equally comfortable with print and interactive design is necessary.
7. Must have very strong project management skills, be detail-oriented and able to coordinate multiple work streams for on-time project delivery. Ability to organize and maintain a variety of design development schedules, as well as budgets and design strategies is also required.
8. Must be service oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to foster a cooperative, results-driven work environment. The ability to comfortably interface with all levels of management and staff to communicate cross-functionally in a structured and clear manner, influencing others is also required.
9. Requires strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and a high level of problem-solving and decision-making skills.
10. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and show constant entrepreneurial initiative. Must have attention to detail, a high level of organization and be highly organized, deadline-driven and goal- and results-oriented.
11. Must have an extremely flexible/adaptable attitude and enjoy a "startup" mentality.
