THEROLE IN A NUTSHELL
We are seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Data to lead our Central Data Office (CDO). In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for crafting and executing GreenShield's data strategy, managing in-flight programs involving the data team, and overseeing the leads of our data engineering, data analytics, and data governance teams. You will act as a thought leader, driving initiatives to democratize data access and empower self-service analytics while ensuring strict adherence to data governance and compliance standards. You will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Product & Data, and specific duties of the role include:
Data Strategy Development
Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with GreenShield's mission and business objectives.
Identify opportunities for value creation through data-enabled products and data-driven operations.
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance data capabilities.
Team Leadership and Management
Lead the Central Data Office, managing the Data Engineering Lead, Data Analyst Lead, and Director of Data Governance
Mentor and develop team leads to foster a high-performing and collaborative environment.
Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of data team members.
Program Execution
Drive the execution of ongoing programs involving data team participation, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data solutions across the organization.
Data Democratization and Self-Service
Champion initiatives to democratize data access, enabling self-service analytics for business users.
Implement tools and platforms that facilitate easy and secure access to data assets.
Data Governance and Compliance
Collaborate with Risk & Compliance committees to establish and enforce data governance policies that ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulations
Oversee execution of governance initiatives and ensure adherence to relevant healthcare data regulations
Thought Leadership
Act as a thought leader in data strategy, promoting best practices and fostering a data-driven culture.
Represent GreenShield in industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in data management, data strategy, or related roles.
At least 5 years in a leadership position managing diverse data teams.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful data strategies in large organizations.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
Skills and Expertise
Strong knowledge of data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, and data governance principles.
Experience with data democratization and self-service analytics tools (e.g., data catalogs, BI platforms).
Deep understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and compliance requirements in the healthcare or insurance industry.
Strong personal integrity and work ethic; takes responsibility; leads by example, is consistent and makes decisions with the organization's values in mind.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Able to build consensus throughout the organization, and at all levels of the organization.
Ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day operational activities.
