What you will do
- Lead and grow the data team in our San Francisco office, ensuring a high-performing data function that supports PayZen's mission.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy, integrating with Flywire, EpicHealth, Peach, major hospitals, and other key healthcare providers.
- Oversee data architecture, pipelines, and governance to ensure accuracy, security, and compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and financial services compliance related to patient payment information, personally identifiable information (PII), and PayZen-provided credit card data.
- Build and scale data platforms that enable real-time and batch processing of patient payment data across multiple healthcare providers.
- Deliver business intelligence and predictive analytics to drive decision-making for leadership and improve patient financial outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations to ensure data-driven insights power key business decisions.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics to measure impact and inform strategy.
- Ensure scalability of data infrastructure to support business growth and regulatory compliance.
What you will bring
- 8+ years of experience in data leadership roles, preferably within healthcare, fintech, or payments industries.
- Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, or other programming languages for data processing and analytics.
- Expertise in data architecture, engineering, and analytics, with experience in modern cloud and data stack technologies (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, dbt, Airflow, Kafka, KPI metrics, reporting. Sigma, etc.).
- An understanding of healthcare payment ecosystems and experience integrating with systems like EpicHealth, Flywire, Peach, and major hospitals and healthcare providers is definitely a plus.
- Experience in machine learning and predictive analytics applied to financial or healthcare data is also a plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory and security frameworks relevant to healthcare data and financial services compliance, including protections around patient payment information and credit card security.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into business impact.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to execute and deliver measurable results in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for driving impact through data and analytics in the healthcare and fintech space.
