JOB PURPOSE

This role will lead the Digital and Data team to ensure the organization is able to leverage its data and digital assets to drive revenue growth, deepen community impact and maximize operational efficiency.

The incumbent will direct a BI and Digital team centered on providing insight and aiding in business decision-making. The director will oversee the planning of projects to produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analyses addressing impactful business issues or questions. The director will collaborate with business partners to build the digital and data strategies required to achieve business goals and objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Key Responsibilities: Business Intelligence & Strategy
    • Develop a Digital and BI program and establish a centre of excellence for the organization
    • Manage a team of data analysts
    • Develop strategies and governance for effective data quality
    • Develop strategies for effective data analysis and reporting to support evidence-based decision making
    • Support all business units in executing research and data analytics projects
    • Oversee all analytics operations to correct discrepancies and ensure quality
    • Build systems to transform raw data into actionable business insights
    • Work with sensitive and confidential data to build data and digital assets required to achieve business goals and objectives
  • Key Responsibilities: IT Projects and Delivery Solutions
    • Manage and oversee IT project planning including the production of comprehensive project plans and documentation to enable the project to be managed against a clear set of defined deliverables and milestones.
    • Manage and oversee monitoring, measuring, reviewing and updating project process, adjusting project plans and implementing remedial plans and informing all relevant parties.
    • Conduct evaluation of the project and any follow-on action recommendations as required.
    • Provide leadership to those involved in the project by defining work and ensuring deadlines are understood and adhered to and that project objectives are clearly articulated and understood.
    • Oversee all organizational software applications based on the organizations Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
    • Actively manage software applications to drive operational efficiencies and effectively; activities include commissioning, enhancement, and decommissioning of applications.

    General
    • Provide data architecture and modelling support and coaching
    • Provide leadership, coaching, support and direction to team members to be successful in their role
    • Provide clarity of direction, expectations and outcomes along with alignment of activities with priorities
    • Manage a team focused on building a data driven organization
    • Perform other duties related to the qualifications and requirements of the job


    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

    Education:
    • University degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business Administration or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Experience:
    • Experience in business intelligence and supporting digital technologies
    • Experience in the fields of BI, management information and/or data management
    • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Azure and Power BI
    • Experience in a unionized environment or non-profit sector is an asset
    • Experience in managing projects across an organization
    • Experience and skill developing and implementing strategies across an organization with experience in a non-profit or public sector would be an asset

    Skills:
    • Strong data architecture and data modelling skills
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously according to schedules and budgets
    • Ability to integrate multiple BI environments and form evidence-based strategies for tool synergies
    • Understanding of data and systems engineering concepts to effectively integrate and analyze data to develop actionable business information deliverables
    • Experience with product development, lifecycle and methodologies
    • Work with Design Thinking, Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps teams
    • Demonstrated capability in understanding Data Security and Privacy best practices
    • Excellent technical, analytical and organizational skills
    • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally using public speaking and presentation skills.
    • Organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand the broader strategic implications of technology on other stakeholders
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain an in-depth, broad and current knowledge of technology and techniques

    WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Some hours outside of business hours to attend meetings and events

    This is an exempt role. This position is at the range of $107,950.00 - $114300.00 annually.

    Candidates must live within 60 KMs (commuting distance) from our office as this position is currently a hybrid role and office attendance is required.
