Description:

The Cleveland Orchestra is seeking an innovative Director, Digital Platforms to lead the management, growth, and engagement strategies for its three primary digital platforms: ClevelandOrchestra.com, The Cleveland Orchestra App, and Adella - Digital Home of The Cleveland Orchestra. This role will focus on enhancing guest experience, driving digital revenue, and ensuring seamless cross-platform engagement. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with experience optimizing digital platforms, working across departments, and collaborating with external agencies to deliver best-in-class digital experiences.

Position responsibilities include the following:

Platform Leadership & Oversight
  • Lead the strategic plan for The Cleveland Orchestra's digital platforms, ensuring alignment with audience engagement, revenue growth, and brand objectives.
  • Oversee external technology vendors, agencies, and platform partners to ensure high-quality execution of development, enhancements, and maintenance.
  • Direct the digital product roadmap, ensuring planned updates and improvements meet user needs and business goals.
  • Ensure accessibility and user experience (UX) best practices across all digital platforms.
  • Manage budgets related to platform enhancements, vendor contracts, and digital tools.
  • Supervise a small team of digital professionals (including agency partners and contractors), fostering innovation and high performance
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge-sharing, encouraging team members to experiment with new technologies and develop skills.
  • Serve as an organizational representative in external meetings with contractors and agencies, ensuring consistent technical standards and best practices.

Operational Responsibilities
  • Manage and update platform content as needed in collaboration with Marketing and Content teams.
  • Coordinate with vendors and developers to ensure timely delivery of enhancements, bug fixes, and new features.
  • Work closely with the Marketing, Content, and Philanthropy teams to implement digital strategies that support ticket sales, fundraising, and audience development.
  • Create reports and monitor analytical insights on platform performance to share with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all digital platforms are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with best practices in UX, content strategy, and digital engagement.
  • Identify and implement improvements to site navigation, mobile app usability, and streaming content accessibility.
  • Enhance digital revenue streams through e-commerce, ticketing, digital memberships, and subscriptions.
  • Work closely with Content and Editorial teams to ensure seamless integration of digital storytelling, video, and interactive media across platforms.
  • Support Philanthropy in enhancing digital donor experiences, online giving, and membership benefits.
  • Leverage data analytics and audience insights to refine personalization, conversion strategies, and content performance.

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience managing digital platforms, content-driven websites, mobile apps, or digital commerce.
  • At least 2 years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to drive audience engagement, user experience enhancements, and digital revenue growth.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), mobile apps, and digital subscription models.
  • Strong understanding of UX design principles, customer journey optimization, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with CRM and ticketing systems (Tessitura a plus) and how they integrate into digital experiences.
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills with a track record of cross-team collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Strong analytical mindset, comfortable using data and performance metrics to inform strategy and optimization.
  • Experience in arts, entertainment, or membership-driven organizations is a plus.
  • Passion for digital engagement, innovation, and audience growth.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with classical repertoire preferred.
