Primary Purpose: The Director is responsible for the successful strategic management of all aspects of Executive Education programming and operations and leads a team to accomplish these goals.
Executive Education advances knowledge and expertise in executives, organizations, and professionals at all levels through a variety of high-quality educational opportunities. The broad portfolio of non-degree programs for individuals spans the topics of management, leadership, strategy, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Programs for organizations are designed specifically to meet a corporations' goals.
Executives will be better prepared to lead their organizations through increasingly complex conditions and challenges and busy professionals will keep their edge by regularly upgrading their knowledge, keeping up with the latest in best practices and developing new skills.
Edwards' Executive Education, as a partner to the learning and development (L&D) community, is the leading provider of executive and professional L&D in Saskatchewan.
Nature of Work:
Reporting to the Dean, Edwards School of Business, the position is a senior leadership role within the Edwards School of Business that provides comprehensive oversight of the Executive Education operation, including responsibility for defining the vision, developing and implementing strategy, identifying and pursuing growth opportunities, managing financial and people resources, and overseeing the delivery of high-quality custom and open enrollment executive and professional education programs.
The Director is a visionary who can manage innovation and understand the business, its trends and the mission-critical technical and functional skills needed for success. The work is high volume with decisions being made ranging from routine to critical, where the incumbent requires the ability to critically assess opportunities and risks to provide a strategic level of decision-making and advice while maintaining relationships both internal and external to the university. A high level of adaptability is required for continuous planning, executing multiple projects and initiatives, and competing deadlines.
Confidentiality is paramount in this role. The Director is responsible for working with, analyzing, and developing sensitive labor relations and financial information. This encompasses compensation data, employment status, succession plans, workforce planning, and organizational budgets, all of which may involve the college, the university, and/or government partners in the College's mission.

Qualifications
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, as well as non-traditional career paths, community experience, and recognition of prior learning may be considered.
Education: A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in business or related field. A relevant graduate degree would be considered an asset.
Experience: Eight (8) to ten (10) years' of related experience in a leadership role, including leading people, budget and financial management and/or strategy development. Preference will be given to previous experience in executive education, learning and development or continuing education. Experience with business development, marketing and sales would be an asset.

Accountabilities
Strategy Formulation and Implementation
- Envision, articulate, and achieve a comprehensive, entrepreneurially focused strategy for Executive Education that aligns with and contributes to the overall College's strategic goals and objectives.
- Collaborates as a member of the Dean's Leadership Team, planning for budget direction, optimizing resources available, and meeting College's strategic goals and objectives.
- Represents the College in and provides leadership to university initiatives.
- Research to gain insights and intelligence regarding the competitive executive and professional education environment and ensure positive positioning and develop plans for growth. Serve as the key driver for the College's non-credit programming, including microcredentials.
- Design and implement a strategy that ensures the attraction, development, and retention of an outstanding, experienced, and diverse facilitator group (source both internal and external) to fit customer needs, develop and teach programs. Provide Edwards faculty with the opportunity to facilitate workshops which broadens their business experience and enhances their research agenda. In partnership with other College leaders, promoting and nurturing a culture of diversity, equity, collegiality, and acceptance.
Client and Community Relations
- Build and maintain exceptional relationships with clients, both current and prospective. Remain abreast of clients' needs and review and revise program offerings, delivery methodology and content to ensure maximum engagement with programs.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key professional organizations and corporate leaders and promote innovative offerings and capabilities to prospective clients.
- Play an active role in building community among Executive Education participants during key programs and sustaining alumni relations. (Directors Education; Effective Executive etc.)
- Contribute to achieving the outreach and engagement activities of the university by effectively marketing Edwards Executive Education programs and services to the external business community and internally within the university
Operational Oversight, Financial and Risk Management
- Manages the Executive Education budget, which includes financial and staffing components. Works with the Dean to ensure staffing and operations budget is developed in a timely manner and is monitored to ensure budget remains on target.
- Develop a financial plan with annual growth targets that will ensure Executive Education profitability and its ability to contribute to Edwards revenue stream.
- Support the development of proposals and budgets and contribute to communication materials to market the program to prospective organizations.
- Monitor the implementation of all programs and the quality of customer to ensure we meet the business and professional development needs of individuals and organizations in the Saskatchewan market.
- Develop and execute monitoring and evaluation processes to track programmatic data and service responsiveness and to apply lessons learned to future programs.
- Incorporates the identification, assessment, and management of risks into the planning processes for the College.
- Communicates and ensures compliance with university policies, federal and provincial laws and regulations, ethics standards, and protocols.
- Ensures high standards with respect to health and safety.
People Resources
- Manages the human resource and labour relation activities for the unit, including but not limited to, determining staffing requirements, formulating hiring decisions, coaching, training and mentoring, problem solving and conflict resolution, and managing performance.
- Supports the Human Resource SBA in applying collective agreements, labour legislation, and employment law, with respect to the administration, allocation and reallocation of human resources, faculty complement, and other direct reports.
- Fosters an environment that is conducive to positive, highly engaged and high trust working relationships; promotes innovation, collaboration and creativity; contributes to knowledge sharing, mentorship, training tools, coaching and staff development to ensure service levels meet or exceed expectations; and is psychologically safe to ensure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning experience.
- Initiates, promotes, and supports outreach and engagement activities of faculty and staff.
- Lead the recruitment of faculty, staff and/or external facilitators and support the courses' content development process.
